  3. I'm glad that you like this movie so much! Also, especially BJ, you got all the things right!

Also, Tolkien, in his letter, answering to a woman who asked him why didn't they just gave the Ring to Gandalf (the same question that Asia asked), answered that Gandalf "Would have used the Ring with the desire to doing good; to make everyone live in the right way, in peace and armony; but, to achieve that goal, he would have to take away the free will, which is the greatest gift that Ilùvatar (God, in Tolkien's World) has donated to every living creature; he would have so become a much more terrible Dark Lord than Sauron itself". This is the main reason because Gandalf refuses to took the RIng, when Frodo offered it to him!

  4. You have to read the silmarillion it is a pre history to the lord of the rings but I would suggest you read the hobbit and then the lord of the rings then the silmarillion to explain the power characters

  5. What most first timers failed to understand is that Gandalf is not human. He's not an old man that does magic tricks. He's a powerful, angelic being, made to look like an old man. The 5 Wizards have been wandering around Middle Earth since Sauron was defeated that first time. Everyone knows who Gandalf the Grey is because he's been around everywhere and met everyone. Wizards are powerful beings, but some choose to exercise that power in different ways. Gandalf advises kings, influences the good in people and gives little nudges during pivotal events to make a better outcome in the history of this world. He's the only wizard that we see that followed his original mission of preparing Middle Earth to defeat Sauron when he came back. The other wizards do their own things, which you will learn.

  7. I saw these movies when they came out and loved it but was left with more questions then answers. So I dove into the books and discovered how much established lore there is written about Middle Earth created by J.R.R. Tolkien and finished by his son. Lore that goes back to the 1st age and creation of the world. And the fun part is learning that Tolkien wrote it as an alternative history of the creation of our world. According to him we are in the 9th age. He created his own languages (Sindarin for the elves for example), and his writing was heavily influenced by his Catholic faith. If you're curious there is a movie they made about J.R.R. Tolkien and how he came to write the stories of Middle Earth simply called "Tolkien".

  8. Wizards are like minor angels sent to Middle Earth by higher angels from the land in the West which is like Heaven. Sauron is also kind of a minor angel that was fallen and corrupted by Morgoth (kind of like Lucifer) who was a higher fallen angel that was defeated before the times of these movies. I hope that explains it.

  9. the language of the elves is based on ancient english. since j.r.r. tolkien was a professor at a british university he used his knowledge to develop the language of the elves.

  10. The Gimli and Galadriel was most interested as he was given the hair for reasons a big one is in the past one of the elves who was selfish and greedy asked for a hair from her 3 times, and she refused him, but she didn't see the greed that dwarfs have with Gimli as well as he become a friend to the elves.

  11. The final scenes with Boromir sum up perfectly why he is my favourite character in these films. Yes we saw him try to take the ring from Frodo, but that is the power of the rings influencing him. Though even though he was weak to the ring and he wanted the ring for himself, he didn't want power like Isildur, and he didn't want the ring necessarily for his own personal ownership like Gollum and Bilbo. He wanted the ring so he could defend his people. It's a selfless act. His weakness wasn't greed it was wanting to protect others. And then we see that desire to protect others later when he saves Merry and Pippin, and then we see him using the Horn of Gondor to bring ALL the Uruk Hai to him so that Frodo can be given a clear path to escape. He literally puts all of the attention on himself so that others can escape. And he is a strong fighter, you can see by the way he literally fights off Uruk Hai with 2 arrows in him. He is one of the strongest, and one of the most selfless, but it is his need to help others and his strength along with his weakness around the ring which ultimately makes him look like a bad man.
