The Legendary Medieval Voyage Of Admiral Zheng He | Voyage Of The Dragon Kings | Chronicle

Explorer Rex Warner aims to retrace the journeys of Admiral Zheng He using a replica medieval boat and the original navigation charts. Zheng He commanded a legendary fleet from China to Africa, featuring over 300 vessels, including massive 130-meter treasure ships. In the 15th century, China was already a political and economic powerhouse in Southeast Asia, when the reigning Ming emperor decided to launch sea expeditions to countries beyond the horizon. In his lifetime Zheng He led seven expeditions of 800 vessels capable of carrying up to 1,000 people each. Based on the maps produced on these trips, some believe these expeditions circumnavigated the globe and may have even discovered the New World before Columbus.

  1. I read about Zheng He several years ago in National Geographic. Just think how different history might have been had China continued to keep in contact with these other countries. I've also seen shows where they've tested the DNA of some of the people in coastal Africa and they have Chinese DNA from sailors who were on these voyages.

  2. Awesome video. It was enjoyable and I learned a lot. I found the video not too deep or long on facts to drag on as some videos tend to do. It flowed well, with nice imagery and good narration.
