THE JOURNEY BEGINS!! HORIZON ZERO DAWN BLIND PLAYTHROUGH – PART 2

GOING IN COMPLETELY BLIND!! HORIZON ZERO DAWN BLIND PLAYTHROUGH – PART 2

We’re going on a new journey today. Grab your bow and arrows and follow me.

I know next to nothing about Horizon Zero Dawn, it’s a complete blind playthrough and it will be followed up with the sequel Horizon Forbidden West.

ABOUT HORIZON ZERO DAWN:
Earth is ours no more.
In an era where Machines roam the land and mankind is no longer the dominant species, a young hunter named Aloy embarks on a journey to discover her destiny.

In a lush, post-apocalyptic world where nature has reclaimed the ruins of a forgotten civilization, pockets of humanity live on in primitive hunter-gatherer tribes. Their dominion over the new wilderness has been usurped by the Machines – fearsome mechanical creatures of unknown origin.

  2. Still love your playstyle and attitude to the game! This is what I like to see. Someone who takes the time to explore and enjoy all the different aspects of the game and not get too laser focused on just the main quest line. also, as a lore and character buff I love your analysis of the characters and lore in the game too. Keep up the good work!

As for my combat style in the game, I like to try and go stealth if I can, but will go brawl if discovered. And really love that I have both options as I kinda hate when games force stealth and have you fail soon as your discovered. love stealth as an option, hate when it's mandatory.

  3. First of all, I love your emotional reaction to the datapoints. They really do add a lot of lore to the world. Try to collect as many as possible. Always love to see new players doing this epic Journey, as a 150+ hours veteran myself. I dont want to spoiler you, but all l CAN say about your question regarding the people in the bunker is: it had something to do with the giant machines in the Mountains. Greetings from Germany

  4. As for my favourite strategy, I always analyse the elemental weakness of my enemies and decide which weapons to use. You can craft ammo directly in the weapon wheel. And Yes, hunt the animals. You can Upgrade your ammo capacity with their items. And did you know that the area you are seeing is based on real life US? I dont know which state the Embrace is in exactly, but the west of the map is supposed to be Colorado and the DLC area is Yellowstone.

  5. I don't know what's going on with your Horizon-Zero Dawn uploads, but they look to be in really low quality resolution.. it makes them really hard to watch because they look blurry with not much detail. If you're playing on a standard PS4, perhaps it would be worth considering investing in a PS4 Pro or PS5 to improve the visual quality.

  6. I would suggest getting the staff skills asap. The bows are fun and great, but there are quite a few enemies that either rush to melee range, or are so resistant against bow damage that it's best to knock them down with melee attacks. And there's another skill for stabbing a knocked down enemy for critical damage. This game's combat is more tactical that most other games, and many enemies are best taken down by a combination of different weapons, instead of just one 🙂

  7. You seem like an experienced gamer, so quick to catch how this gameplay works. I admit I couldn't shoot a Watcher in the eye like you did on my first mission. Nice work!

Your playstyle is very fun to watch. 🙂 I appreciate that you always stop to examine all the datapoints. They're quite important and offer a lot of information.

  8. One tip I'd suggest… inventory management is a big issue in this game. You're always gathering. You're always crafting. You probably WILL find yourself buying every inventory upgrade even if it means having to kill rats and fish for the small hard to get bits that're needed for the last step upgrades.

To help combat that tendency, decide on a practical cap for raw resources (mine is generally 3 or 4 full stacks), and anything beyond that, craft everything you can from it, and sell the excess (or scrap it with the scrapper perk you noticed in a pinch… but selling is better, because you get more shards from a full sale than you do from breaking it down for scrap). Otherwise you're going to find yourself struggling to find inventory space for all of your stuff when you find something really good.

Also, some stuff like animal talismans exist for no purpose other than selling, and they take up inventory space, so it's best to cash them out as soon as you pass a merchant. The menu will tell you what's useful for crafting and what exists only to sell for shards.

  9. Caught the tail end of your premiere. No spoilers. I promise.

8:57EDIT: Someone asked, so instructions are below in the replies. 2nd Edit: That is, I TRIED to share how I got my PS5, but my post keeps getting deleted. I don't know why. It lasts for all of 30 seconds, and when I refresh the page, it's gone. 😢 I could tell you how I got my PS5, but I don't want it to seem like I'm leaving spam comments. Just tell me and I'll e-mail you if you want it. (Not sure if it'll work the same in the Netherlands as it does in the States, but you can always try.)
10:30 – You bought the Concentration Skill. You need to get in the habit of clicking R3 to slow time and get a close-up of the target.
36:29 – Merchant tips: All merchants have a same box for free; loot is randomly generated. (Oh, look. You found it at 40:51!) Anything labeled "selling for shards" alone is junk to sell off. If it says it's used to trade with merchants, sell off only anything you deem excess. You can craft all traps, potions, and ammo, so don't waste your money at the merchants.
42:16 – Whether you craft 1 or 10 arrows, you use the same amount of resources. Early in the game, you're going to want to wait until you can craft the full amount before doing so.
42:26 – Broken game mechanic: while they limit how many individual items you can carry, they don't do the same on the treasure/resource boxes. You can hang onto them as emergency stashes. 😉
43:17 – Just in this frame, the machine core, tail, and tooth are all junk that could have been sold. Just sayin'. 😉
43:42 – Tutorials: Each weapon you acquire tends to have a tutorial that comes with it. But if you don't make it your active quest, you won't get credit.
    46:51NICE!
48:10 – After killing a certain number of robots, they start coming out of the "factory" a little more robust. Just a touch more difficult to kill.
48:51 – Probably won't be the first time you stumble upon a robot you didn't see. Good job taking it down. 😉
49:00 Handling Coils improve your rate of fire.
53:03 – GLITCH! Never seen that one before! 😲
    54:20 – That's not boss music. It's "delving music."
    1:03:19 – You're welcome. 🙂

Improving handling means you pull the bow string back faster, meaning you can fire sooner. This is especially useful to upgrade the Sharpshooter (sniper) bows, which take a while to pull the string back with, so reducing that draw time with handling mods is really good. The more mods of the same type you put on a bow, the effect stacks and gets even better.

  11. 31:50 Actually, this game's story becomes quite believable (in that it makes it seem plausible) when you get to know more about it, so don't write it off just yet. It's actually really exciting and it'll come a point where you almost can't stop playing because you want to find out more about what really happend. At least it was like that for me. 🙂
Anyway, great video! I'm looking forward to next one. 🙂

  12. Without spoiling anything. If you come across some visual journals/data points, the audio for them is very short, but if you go into the menu/codex for them, they are much longer and have a much more story which I think you'll enjoy.

  13. As I'm typing this I haven't finished watching all the video but just a small hint, every time you buy a new weapon you get a tutorial quest, completing it gets you XP but it can only be completed if it's selected as the active quest. Now I don't know if you did that because like I said I haven't finished watching the video.

  14. I really did enjoy watching this play through, but I will say the cheetah print outfit and makeup, plus blurry thumbnail and intro unfortunately looks a tad bit cheap and cheesy. You have so much potential for a crap ton of followers but for marketing I feel this is hurting you. You deserve you do well girl

  15. I absolutely adore this game — one of the very best on the PS — and I love how enthusiastically you're responding to it. You're in for a wild ride with this one, no question.

  16. No spoiler or anything. Later in the game you will come by a merchant selling a golden travel kit; buy it as a priority, this gives you unlimited fast travel to already known camps and dramaticaly cut down on travel time.

  17. Thank you for revitalising my interest in this game! I picked it up on PS4 upon launch but got distracted and left it. I had lost my track so I'm just going to start again from scratch.

PS the outfittiing screen indicates that it is your clothing that marks you as an outcast, although it doesn't say how exactly.

  18. Loving the playthrough! I love how thoughtfully you're playing…it makes the game so much fun when you know what you're doing and how things work. Seeing you discover it all is fun! 😎

  19. So now I have two videos per week to look forward to from you. I enjoy your enthusiasm immensely and as others mentioned, it is great to see you be so invvested in the lore and the side missions. It's going to take a while but I'm in for the ride.

  20. Very happy to see you playing this! As always your playstyle is unique and I mean that in a good way. YOU are serious with just a bit of silliness and very intuitive. So now I need to make some Aloy/CommanderKim memes :p

  21. Great!
Small tip … When you go to quest menu it will actually show you show you at the bottom of the screen show quest or objective on the map and you will be able to highlight a marker for location so you won't be confused…. I'm playing this too❤️✨

  22. Excited for you getting into this game. Played it in 2020 and found it so easy to get heavily invested in the world and characters. You'll definitely cry

  23. heavy melee attacks are really devastating in this game, specifically vs smaller machines. and most humans. they cannot be blocked and they often knock down small targets.
learn what different ammo types and effects can cause. u can see more info about this at the right side of the inventory menu.
check each machine in the machine catalog for details about its weakspots and components, as well as which weapon types are the most useful or useless against it.

  24. as far as I know there are only 3 dedicated female characters. Laura Croft Samus Aron and Aloy so it makes me happy seeing people play a game like this and enjoying it maybe we'll get more women in the future 😀

  25. One of my biggest problems with Horizon Zero Dawn (bearing in mind that I love the game overall) is the REALLY inconsistent way the passage of time is portrayed. Stalagtites grow in caves, yet iPhones still work, cars are still rusting away after [Redacted] years. Much of Aloy's world looks like civilization only collapsed a hundred years ago or so.
