Welcome to our first ice fishing trip of the year! In this video we are driving around looking for first ice in the upper midwest. Finding ice that is safe is often challenging this time of year. Join us as we travel across the upper midwest looking for our first walleye of the season on this ice. Thanks for watching!

Let’s hear some feedback and let us know how you like this style of video!
Editing and music sync so dope!
Send cold weather to southern Michigan please!
6:29 – 😂😂 that was close! Thats what every ohio lake is like all winter!
Not a lot of people do the recon of early ice lakes. It’s refreshing to see it. I usually use dnr maps/fish surveys to find decent numbers then go glass em.
Got to meet tom at the St. Paul show. Wonderful dude. Thanks for all the content.
I live in Southern Nebraska and consider it lucky if we get a two week window of fishable ice on the smaller bodies of water. Ice fishing has gotten really popular in the last ten years or so, but it usually means a trip to So-Dak, No-Dak or Minn to find safe and drivable ice. (I'm old and broke down so my sled dragging days are over.)
Tom
Great videos. Bought your walleye pack today from fish usa. How bout some footage of you using some lures from the pack. One review wasnt to great but im chalking it up to not being a fair review.
Good luck finding a Bait Shop you can walk into and they not know who you are!
Love your out on the ice and NOT at the St. Paul show. Let’s go !!!!
As always… phenomenal content!
You should do a contest where if you buy a piece of apparel from Contour fishing, you get entered into fishing with you for a 4 hour day in your area… just a thought!
I want to go ice fishing dude
First time viewer I like your music
Mitch behind the camera creates a lot more options
why didn't you call ice fishing guides for an ice report
I'm one of those guys frothing at the mouth! 😂
❤️🎣
why crappie and walleye are both great table fair
Mille Lac's Isle Bay has good traffic. Won't be long now for the main lake 🎣
When you said spending a week in your garage getting fishing gear ready and frothing at the mouth, I felt like you were speaking to me directly haha
Hey your up in the Bemidji area, If you have never fished the Detroit Lakes area I highly suggest it we have some great fishing in this area and there are hundreds of lakes to pick from and right now some of the smaller ones have a decent amount of ice.
Ice on Waubay Lake in SD already
I was wondering what lake you guys are fishing?
Fish with the right gear and panfish are as fun or even more enjoyable than walleye !!
Bro I’m buyin a pair of binocs now 😂
Just curious, have you ever fallen thru?
You got problems. Did you guys give each other handies on the ride. Now you 2 just need to smooch it out. Shoulda went to red in first place.
Thanks for working so hard on the video awesome catch.
Been a subscriber for a while, you've helped me become a much better fisherman and have enjoyed almost all 😊 of your work, but this is vid has instantly become my favorite! You didn't put yourself at risk, which separates you from a ton, but it's "The Bounty" , 'The Reward ".. that's what it's about! So fun!
Great to see Fun REAL video!
5 inches in eastern nd. 3-5 in Central nd
I loved the montages with the music. It was a great edit on some of those, Tom and Mitch! Some spots were a little laggy and slow on video transitions like walking up to the truck with music from an ice check. You need to toss in sound effects on any b-roll used if it is soundless drone footage or something like the slow motion auger even if you have voice over going. Use that Artlist subscription to its fullest.
I really liked the overall concept, though. It felt inspiring to watch the reality of ice fishing.
Good luck out there…don’t forget to give me a shout if you’re still looking for ice or even a place to stay in the future. We’ve got 6 inches right now, but expect 60 degree weather this week. There is plenty of room to stay, though.
Upper Red lake MN is ready for walleyes
Sunny beach road
Love your videos. What gloves you recommend for cold weather gloves?
Hahahaha….the struggle is real this time of the year guys!
Southern Ontario anglers in the same boat, driving 5-6 hours in search of ice…. Stay safe! Great vid as usual!
Any chance you are willing to show your Mega Live setup with links to your mount? Looking to use my Mega Live with my Helix 9 ice setup, but not a big fan of dropping another $250 for the Mega Lice ice mount.
This is the kind of video I live for, scuffed and sending it
Videos like this make me realize how weird Colorado is for ice fishing. We've had safe ice for quite a while now. Well over a foot in a few lakes if you're willing to go over 10,000 ft and hike a few miles, but down on the front range where the elevation is 5000 ft we're probably a month out from safe ice. As much as I love trout I can't wait till the options with other species open up. I get bored of trout and want to catch some walleye, crappie, and perch.
Nice
Great video
Loved the edits you put in this video
Awesome video, love the cinematic concept intro. Can't wait to see more ice fishing content. 🤘
Thanks Tom
Slayed 9-11inch crappies this past weekend 10min of the Twin Cities
Be nice to know what lakes you were on. What state?
Uh, no ice yet here in north Alabama. I do miss the snow, cold & ice from growing up in northern illinois. Looking forward to more videos.
I’m doing URL with Chaz in late Jan. Thanks for the content Tom
