The Horrors at Hardhome

Once the closest thing to a town in the lands beyond The Wall, something terrible and mysterious befell Hardhome about 600 years ago. It has since become an overgrown ruin, shunned and considered accursed… Yet despite that, it is suddenly important again – as hordes of refugees flee there, following the dreams of a woods witch. As reports reach Jon of wights in the woods and waters, dreams reach Melisandre of an impossibly cold mist turning the Free Folk into skulls. What the heck happened all those years ago? And what the heck is happening there now? Could this be how the Others get their army?

  1. I alway thoughy that it was possible maester willis was killed by the other maesters. Marwin warns Sam about talking about magic to the men of the Citadel. He tells him he will end up with poison in his porridge. If Willis spent that much time at Hardhome, then it's quite possible that he brought back stories about children of the forest, white walkers, skin changers, etc. This seems exactly like the kind of info the Citadel was trying to suppress. They could have easily made up the story that he returned to hardhome. And also edited what he wrote in his chronicles of his time there.
