On October 1, 1831, Staten Islandโ€™s first hospital, Known as โ€œThe Seamanโ€™s Retreatโ€, was opened by the Marine Hospital Service, to serve retired naval and commercial sailors.
Three of these original colonnaded structures remain, dating from the 1830s and 1840s.

The Marine Hospital Service provided medical treatment to naval personnel.
On May 6, 1857, the neighboring New York Marine Hospital (also the โ€œQuarantineโ€) in Tompkinsville, about 1 mile north along the shore, was attacked by a local mob, fearful of the mostly immigrant detainees.
The next year, on September 1, 1858, a mob again attacked Bayley Seton hospital, burning it down in what became known as the Staten Island Quarantine War.

  1. It would help if the mics were synced together so the saound dont comethrough differend sides of the cameras its kinda hard too tell but i gdt why yall do it because yall are useing the real time recorders but it bounces side too side in the headphones

  2. Really cool investigation. I miss how OG ghost hunters investigate. No over the top theatrics, just looking for documentable evidence!
One random thought, would it be possible to wait to put subtitles on evp's until after the second playback? The only reason I ask is because the power of suggestion makes it hard to hear anything other than what the subtitles say (even if they are spot on). This was something that bothered me with og ghost hunters too, and many many other teams in the field.

  5. Thank You so much for sharing this! I love how clearly I could hear everything too. I have followed you since you started the show years ago, became a believer by the proof I saw in the real world as well as by your show and all that followed. To me, you are the OG. Thanks for being you!

  6. Guys, though it may sound absurd or silly or even ridiculous, I would highly caution you to Lysol Spray down your shoes thoroughly before you go back home, or…even back in your car(s), for that matter. Just think of what you're picking up in such creepy places ๐Ÿœ (hopefully not of the unseen type) and bringing back with you! ๐Ÿ˜ฎ
A squeel…maybe it's a rat or a mouse, not too unusual for such a place.

  7. yes very refreshing. No fluff. Very quiet and no yelling and screaming down the halls. No music to keep us from hearing what you hear. Iโ€™m very much a skeptic, but youโ€™re the one Iโ€™ll watch because you make it believable and seem so truthful about it. Would love to experience that sort of stuff some day. Iโ€™ll continue following you.
