I think you're taking the "rushing in without thinking" bit a little too seriously, literally all of the big powers at god valley were doing exactly that. Big mom is known to rush into things with overconfidence, Blackbeard has done this multiple times so far, this is just a trophe of power, they're ignorant because they feel confident.
We only saw Kuma's,Ivan's and Ginny's POV of the God Valley incident And not the Rocks and Roger's,Oda is treating us like little kids, giving us half chocolate and saying be patient and behave well to get the other half
Quick Theory: Dragon is Xebec's son, and Luffy's mom is Garps daughter, Garp took Dragon in as an adopted son so save him after the events of God Valley

It isnt really a luffy and Rocks thing thsts sort of a D thing. Rodger does it, Luffy does it, Rocks does it, even black beard has shown to have done this. Rodgers crew trusts him so they dont really atop him. The straw hats trust eachother and luffy trusts that his crew can handle themselves. Rocks crew get annoyed and dont really care about rocks if he lives or dies, BBs crew sorta have the same mindset with him wanting to go into the fightbhead on. Rocks crew is a parralel to rodgers having bad synergy and no respect for their captain so not caring if he goes off on his own. BB is a parralel to Luffy and his crew. They all have the mindset of going in head first listening to black beards plans so they habe good synergy while Luffys crew likes to spread out into small groups but can easily do the same synergy.
