  1. Thanks so much for bringing this to us! I have to say, this really isn't my go to genre of game. Survival games stress me out too much lol. However, the care and thought that have seemingly gone into this, not to mention the deep consideration of lore, have me so excited to play it!

On a side note, it's so cool to see the heights that the channel has reached! Congratulations on all of your success. It's well deserved and I look forward whatever you have in store for us next. 🧙‍♂️

  2. Yes everything we know is Bilbo pov first of Elven lore…that’s important to note and an argument I’ve made why the world has more to offer.

  3. Looks very interesting indeed. I'm sure this will be visually stunning when released.
The only major issue I have with it is the Neo-Khuzdul used here.
David Salo has completely reinvented what he did for the movies, needlessly it would seem.
To be clear, this is no "retake" of his previous work, this is pretty much starting from scratch and throwing the linguistic work done on Neo-Khuzdul for the movies in the bin.
Pronoun endings have changed, existing verbs reinvented, existing nouns and adjectives reinvented (while you had perfectly good one that have been established for over ten years now).
Only reason I can think of that this was done is a rights issue, meaning he had to reinvent the whole thing again, as he didn't have the rights to reuse it.
If so, the result shown here is a very poor alternative in my view of what we had.
Disappointed and a disservice to the fans. Shame

  4. Hopefully this game sets a new standard for Middle Earth games. We haven't really explored the lore outside of the trilogy timeline (I know we have lotro) in games. Not familiar with the rights to the Tolkien lore, but the 4th age could be a good period to explore M.E as a whole due to, what I would assume, a little more leniency to the story. Would be amazing to get maybe a Rohan/Gondor perspective during this time frame. I think the idea of having games that focus on a particular group would allow readers and fans to really explore the culture of the many different races of Tolkien. An orc perspective after the fall of Sauron could be interesting too. I like the idea of factions and I would think that maybe some groups of orcs may want to assimilate after years of service under Sauron. Food for thought.

  5. This is fantastic. Thanks to Jon-Paul, Farrha, Corey and of course Matt for hosting. Matt – your words of ‘yes you have one key target market person right here.. a dwarf lore fan’ absolutely me too! Bring on 2023

  6. Have to love these people who are studying every page they can get to make this world as authentic as they can be. Every sort of LOTR media should be made with this level of depth and respect

  7. I noticed John-Paul has a middle earth map with seven labels. Maybe locations in game or seven clans? Thorin’s Halls, Gundabad, Khazad Dum, Glittering Caves, Withered Heath?, Rhun?, and way down in Harad.

  8. As much as I always love your videos gotta thumb this down for an hour and 23 minutes with 10 minutes of game preview. Cool as the interview is, should’ve been labeled as such. Misleading title.

  9. I wonder how it will play and feel in comparison to something like 'V Rising', if at all. Or a better way to ask it, what other Survival-Crafting games would Jon-Paul compare this game to or drew inspiration from.

  10. So, this looks cool. But it is a collective failure of game development that we still don't have any kind of hack and slash epic for the licensed Two Towers and Return of the King games to pass the torch to. How does a gollum game get made before that?
