As a man or woman stranded naked, freezing and starving on the shores of a mysterious island called ARK, you must hunt, harvest resources, craft items, grow crops, research technologies, and build shelters to withstand the elements. Use your cunning and resources to kill or tame & breed the leviathan dinosaurs and other primeval creatures roaming the land, and team up with or prey on hundreds of other players to survive, dominate… and escape!
Dinosaurs, Creatures, & Breeding! — over 100+ creatures can be tamed using a challenging capture-&-affinity process, involving weakening a feral creature to knock it unconscious, and then nursing it back to health with appropriate food. Once tamed, you can issue commands to your tames, which it may follow depending on how well you’ve tamed and trained it. Tames, which can continue to level-up and consume food, can also carry Inventory and Equipment such as Armor, carry prey back to your settlement depending on their strength, and larger tames can be ridden and directly controlled! Fly a Pterodactyl over the snow-capped mountains, lift allies over enemy walls, race through the jungle with a pack of Raptors, tromp through an enemy base along a gigantic brontosaurus, or chase down prey on the back of a raging T-Rex! Take part in a dynamic ecosystem life-cycle with its own predator & prey hierarchies, where you are just one creature among many species struggling for dominance and survival. Tames can also be mated with the opposite gender, to selectively breed successive generations using a trait system based on recombinant genetic inheritance. This process includes both egg-based incubation and mammalian gestation lifecycles! Or put more simply, raise babies!
You must eat and drink to survive, with different kinds of plants & meat having different nutritional properties, including human meat. Ensuring a supply of fresh water to your home and inventory is a pressing concern. All physical actions come at a cost of food and water, long-distance travel is fraught with subsistence peril! Inventory weight makes you move slower, and the day/night cycle along with randomized weather patterns add another layer of challenge by altering the temperature of the environment, causing you to hunger or thirst more quickly. Build a fire or shelter, and craft a large variety of customizable clothing & armors, to help protect yourself against locational damage & extreme temperatures using the dynamic indoor/outdoor insulation calculation system!
By chopping down forests full of trees and mining metal and other precious resources, you can craft the parts to build massive multi-leveled structures composed of complex snap-linked parts, including ramps, beams, pillars, windows, doors, gates, remote gates, trapdoors, water pipes, faucets, generators, wires and all manner of electrical devices, and ladders among many other types. Structures have a load system to fall apart if enough support has been destroyed, so reinforcing your buildings is important. All structures and items can be painted to customize the look of your home, as well as placing dynamically per-pixel paintable signs, textual billboards, and other decorative objects. Shelter reduces the extremes of weather and provides security for yourself and your stash! Weapons, clothing & armor gear can also be painted to express your own visual style.

Hey JaWoodle, you should use the S+ crafting stations for your storage. Love the content.
The water well has no use on the island map, save your points for things you know FOR SURE that you need or you will be out of points when you really need them.
Irrigation pipes, an intake and a tap are what you need for water, start with the pipe you want the tap on then run pipes to the water, the intake goes in the water.
If plumbing does not excite you there is an S+ ini option to place intake without water, then you just place an intake anywhere, snap a tap to it and you have water anywhere without the janky piping.
you still need to keep majo berrys in the 9 slot when the thieving bastards steal they will tame instead of steal
Hey I know it's hard to see around at night time but if you have a touch you can equip it to the saddle for more lights around the base on dinos with saddles and they stay lit up even when ur off the saddle! But they do have a decay time like normal so maybe have a couple in the dinos inventory so you'll have them on hand! Keep up the great work you do mate!
also some dinos will reduce the poundage of items if they like them like bever and wood also takes a long time to get the iron for the tools the first time the time and amount of iron you get with them makes them disposible
Craft metal tools, you will need them.
The rounded river rocks will give a fair amount of metal until you find metal nodes.
It takes one ingot to make a metal pick and that will allow you to harvest more metal and crystal as well.
The S+ crafting station is very handy and has 300 slots.
Base building is good XP and you will need a base and dino yard if you want to make any progress, otherwise your tames will keep getting killed.
I suggest moving to a larger area before you get too big, it then becomes a huge chore.
If u ever find the "tamed list", I play ARK Mobile, u can just respawn ur tames right next to u (without their inventory, but WITH their saddle)… that's how it works on mobile… n maybe PC?!

if u want a lil advice, ur pteranodon is rly nice to ride if u skill stamina and movement speed, the heavy carriers are the eagles or the quetza later
josh, get your metal tools now, and by now i mean yesterday lol. the metal tools increase how many resources you get per node and prioritize a pic first (easier metal gathering =D) then you need to build some gates around your jungle side of the cliff so strange animals dont wander into your camp. building dino gates and gate doors is far less resources than building walls all the way around and you can take the gates out later and place walls inside the framing to make it look nicer later.
Lazza is basically your xp goggles for your other tames
Josh, you might turn on the scrolling combat text or whatever it's called. That way you can see how much damage you and your dinos are doing and receiving.
Any Dino's you do NOT want to be in on attacks you need to set to 'neutral'….lol

When you are taming a dinosaur you can track where it is if you lose it by going to the taming list in you inventory and click track all,

Good idea for base defense is to leave some dinos on neutral so they attack wilds that attack them, but have them follow a passive dino so they go back to their original spot.
Hold T to bring up the whistle wheel to quickly change stance between Passive and Neutral for all tames closeby.
Everything out of render goes into stasis. Time still ticks so they keep taming, growing etc but wont be killed until you walk into render again. Basically everything outside of render is Schrödingers world.
Just in case you were wondering. Last I checked the river stones (Stones near the river where the Sarco first apeared) have a higher chance of giving metal.
Hi Josh, regarding the damage of bow vs crossbow, you can enable damage numbers in the options before you load up your game. Also useful for getting an idea of how strong your dinos are. With it enabled, you'll be able to see how much damage you're doing when you or your dino hit something.
