Miss Garing had never hired a detective before but her brother Bob had disappeared. A month ago he arrived in the city to marry Irma Lewis, a woman he didn’t really know at all, a woman he had met through a matrimonial agency and had been corresponding with for the past few months. At first she didn’t worry about her brother but when she noticed a large amount had gone from their joint account she went to look for him at the boarding house he told her that he and his wife were living at. But when Miss Garing got there the owner told her she had never heard of her brother or his wife, Irma Lewis.
