I get your point and think the “pounce” nature of our culture is a problem. I did hear his comment and because I have three daughters I immediately thought he could have made his point with more finesse. “Take off the kid gloves” would have worked and not come across as so demeaning to women, or whoever likes to wear dresses. 😉 My point is, there are many phrases I used to say but no longer use them because I realized they were demeaning to others. This is what happens as we grow – and it’s mostly a sign of progress. It’s also why every generation thinks the next generation has lost their minds. My grandfather said things that made my Dad cringe. My Dad said things that made me cringe- and vice versa. The beat goes on….The show Fraser provides humorous reminders of this tension.
