  1. Sally Calypso here to remind you to like and subscribe and hit that notification bell to stay up to date with all the traffic news!
Don't believe the rumours, traffic is moving very well!

  2. I think this is a fun episode if you ignore the ridiculous premise*. Not too serious, but the show needs that from time to time. Ranking wise it IS one of the lower points of the series – but that is mainly because there are some top rated gems to come. * Even allowing for recycling the supply chain problem to keep everone fed and fuel for the vehicles ("self-replicating fuel" would make for a very different universe!!) would be insurmountable for a fully functional world, let alone one which was practically destroyed.

  3. Funnily enough since you brought up the comparison, this episode actually saw a resurgence during the pandemic.
There were massive community rewatches done online, and it really hit a lot of people hard during that period. Its themes perfectly match the state everyone was in back then, and it helped bring people together.

Also like other people mentioned, the Macra were villains from a 2nd Doctor episode, although they were just slightly bigger, intelligent crabs. They devolved in the depths of the highway, feeding off the gas,

  4. At the end of the episode, part of the Doctor's description of Gallifrey directly quotes a line from his granddaughter Susan (mentioned in Ncuti Gatwa's season). The Macra appeared once in the 1960s.

  5. The themes are great in this episode . Not into emotional things but it showcases a lot of interesting aspects I wnjoy this episode. Davied and tv shows or news and orher details in his world building.

Macra (not sure how to spell) from Old Who. Never seen the episode but irs a thing.

Lot of great cars insides decorated to life in. Face of Boe hmm. It id a secret. You will find out the meaning eventually. Hmm. Its not just that literal or emotional its very particular word play without spoiling more.

Once we see it it makes sense.

Never heard oc the song before besides thid episode no idea what it was so that actually explained a lot thanks 🙂 but a lot of good moments.

Ah British and something happened in 7 minutes. Sorry Space Station Silicon Valley a N64 game does that and I can't take small numbers used in silly or dangerous ways.

  6. The Doctor at least has the grace to be sorry about lying here. Love how Martha calls him out and that he does tell her about things at the end, arguably more than he's ever told anyone before.

  7. A lot of people think "American Gothic" is a painting of a farmer and his wife, but it's actually a farmer and his spinster daughter. There was a great radio play called "Canadian Gothic" on the Earplay program.

  8. 15th Doctor's sad smile when he said to Ruby "Gone!… Ruby, they're gone." – I thought of this episode with Martha. Oh my heart. And David Tennant's performance was so special, it was like seeing in his eyes as he described Gallifrey seeing him as a little boy watching Doctor Who and imagining those beautiful worlds.

  9. Something has to be said for David's acting while describing Gallifrey at the end, his eyes were of someone remembering a beloved place long since gone, the shaking voice, like reminiscing about a childhood home you'll never see again, UGH HES BRILLIANT

  10. Most of the different passengers are paintings! American Gothic is the first couple. The cat man is named Thomas Kinkade, the naked couple was Adam and Eve, the man in the suit with the hat is The Son of Man by Magritte.

  11. This episode is underrated! It doesn't have any big villains, scary monsters or big speeches but it does have a great sci-fi story and lots of interesting and fun characters.
The Macra are from the 2nd Doctor episode "The Macra Terror" which came out in 1967!

  12. There, everything's gone, happy? I guess not everyone is allowed to say what they think and feel here. I don't know, you watch a video while getting over COVID, think you've got something relevant to say, but no! The future nazis come crashing down. May as well unsubscribe, being able to share experiences and knowledge of the show, gleaned through watching it since 1977, was half the fun. Here I was thinking all the MAGA morons were sensitive when someone criticized their tin pot god, they've got nothing on this mob.

PS Ugo, this is nothing against you mate, you've been great, I've enjoyed every video you.ve made of this show and One Piece, which I'm guessing is also now off the table. As Nine said to Rose in his video message, "Have a great life."

  13. This is one of my favorite espisodes. The characters, the story of each of them. It's very fast paced and talks about the doctor and what happened to a long time friend. It has everything.

  14. Although you've not seen Classic Who…yet there actually was references to the past that your not familiar with the Macra were villains from Classic Who during the Doctor's second incarnation back in the 1960's.

Ardal O'Hanlon who plays the male cat in the cab is best known as Father Dougal McGuire from the 90's Irish sitcom "Father Ted" which you should check out in the future it's really funny show.

I really liked the ending where the Doctor explains the Time War to Martha even though mostly the Doctor keeps pretty much his private life to himself.

The black cat you mentioned I don't think it was actually a cat at all I think it was suppose to be a wolf or some sort of dog like alien.

The Face of Boe did mention to the Doctor in the "New Earth" episode they would be meeting for the third time and the last time and that was that time.

  15. While it's nice to have alittle nostalgia here and there I don't think it's something they should do all the time "Dr. Who" is an experimental show about a change and going forward not looking back into the past even though it's a Time travelling show you can still go to the past without familiarity. I think the problem with the show today is it's too heavily focused on the past instead of focusing on stories which should be the main focus instead of going backwards.

  16. I have to say the Doctor dwelling on the loss of Rose was actually starting to get quite irritating and annoying by this point and not treating Martha like an companion/assistant instead treats her like a "replacement" or just another "passenger".

  17. The story is somehow sooo damn stupid that it can really only play in the US because the citizens there are also really sooo stupid that they maybe would really rather sit for years in their car instead of doing such "unthinkable acts" like walking or using a bike 😂🤣
And no, i will not hold back anymore talking about how stupid the US citizens really are, they have proven it now absolutely to me and there is no longer any excuse for that.

  18. The Macra are a monster from a Classic Who story called The Macra Terror (though they're so different, their appearance here is little more than a shout-out). The Macra Terror's one of many Doctor Who stories that was partially lost, so the missing episodes were animated (along with the existing episodes, for consistency) and are actually pretty easy to find these days, but the story's originally from 1967, so it probably isn't for everyone these days.

The mystery of the Face of Boe's message will be revealed at a later date – stay tuned.

  19. No spoilers intended but I personally enjoy the Moffat and even Chibnall era Who more than these earlier RTD episodes because of how they devastated me emotionally but then I rewatch or see people react to some of these episodes and I'm reminded that RTD was perfectly capable of breaking your heart, and reducing you to tears. It wasn't all whimsical and cheesy
