The End of Organized Humanity Noam Chomsky

This is Noam Chomsky recorded during a video conference in 2023.

This is about as succinct and straight shooting as Noam gets. He offers his signature truth-telling aimed at the center of our global self-terminating culture.

Noam is a living treasure. He has spoken Truth to power for decades.

Unfortunately, Noam will likely die seeing the painful downhill slide of our global Business as Usual culture, which he has warned of for all those decades.

While his wisdom and courage have been consistent through his lifetime, it is heartbreaking to see how little of that wisdom humanity has truly taken on board.

Perhaps our greatest living political and cultural thinker and analyst.

A deep bow to Noam Chomsky.

  1. ❤ Noam, you may find peace in knowledge that for Indigenous Australians there is no time. That culture has existed in the Everywhen and there is no doomsday clock. Just eternity. What is actually ending is America.

  2. I used to weep for humanity. There are so many amazing things that we could be doing together, where everyone would win, but – nah, we're doing what we're doing instead. Oh well. Cockroaches wil survive. The world will be theirs to pick through. I wish them good luck and Godspeed.

  3. You dont need intelligence to make the right decisions you need spirituality. Something few people have managed to develop since the first adi yogi did it over 15000 years ago but its hard to convey in words how to do it, so our main ways of spreading ideas and methods cant be used for that. It makes us severely hampered. On top of that there is a lot of bogus information surrounding spirituality which one have to weed out because there is no system in place to correct information as science has with peer review.

  4. FNC: According to Chomsky, if the unvaccinated refuse to remove themselves from the community, measures must be taken to safeguard the community from them. He suggested that food should be withheld from those who do not comply with vaccination mandates. (he wanted the un-vacced to die of starvation)
He's a PoS and Total hypocrite

  5. Chomsky is not the person to listen to if you are try8ng to learn what is actually going on here on planet FUBAR Earth. He is old and utilizing past education, which was misdirected unbeknownst to him.

  6. The dualism that Chomsky keeps proposing, technological capacity for destruction vs. moral capacity for control, sounds hopelessly idealistic these days.
These are not two countervailing forces locked in eternal balance, but two sides of the same coin. The destruction of our ecosystem is a direct consequence of our attempt to control it, to impose ourselves upon it. Both the agricultural and the industrial revolution had what could be seen as a moral component – feeding the hungry, improving the quality of life for billions. The fact that those proved to be mere rationalizations of the most destructive excesses the world has ever seen is no coincidence.
Ultimately, the issue is one of scale.
Humans acting on an individual level can – and often do – curtail their impulse to analyze, control, and exploit their surroundings; we can sacrifice our own immediate interests when motivated by empathy or other lofty ideals But humans acting on a collective, organizational level cannot curtail that impulse. Incorporated into political entities of a vastly greater scale, we retain technological drivers that push us ever forward, but reject moral constraints because those are seen as aberrations. Individual constituents that happen to develop moral misgivings can easily be removed, replaced by those that have not yet developed them.
So is our reasoning skewed when we build structures that transcend us. Optimizing for efficiency in the short term, moral constraints become a hindrance. We break for nobody.

As far as potential solutions for the Fermi Paradox go, the self-defeating nature of sentient beings organizing into collectives is a decent one.
