Come photograph Oregon with me! https://scottdavenportphoto.com/workshops
This video is part of a series I’m calling The Do-Over Project.
As I prepare for my next landscape photography workshops in Oregon, I have been revisiting photos from my first trip to the southern Oregon Coast, the stretch of coastline from Bandon, Oregon to Brookings, Oregon. The photos bring up fond memories. They are also building my excitement for the workshop, and getting to share these great locations with my fellow photographers.
As I perused these images, there are several that I thought deserved another look, or a fresh look. A do-over.
In this video, I show yo ua photo I made near Sisters Rock in Oregon back in 2016. Then, I share the original RAW image and how I re-processed it in 2023 using Lightroom and ON1 Effects. The video wraps up with a side-by-side comparison of the two images. Is the do-over better? What did I learn along the way? About my post processing tools? About me? Watch and find out.

The second version of your photo is my choice. I must confess, I just don't like B&W photos. In the first version, there's a slight tint, but it mostly appears monochrome to me. Nonetheless, I find colorful photos to be lively and captivating, making them much more appealing to my eyes!
The monochrome version does a better job of light presentation, in my opinion.
I do prefer your redo. Like a previous commenter, I tend to prefer color pictures, I like the very subtle changes that combine to make a large overall effect.
Your videos make me wish I could afford Lightroom. I can't, so I'll just stick with On1 and my ancient PS5 combo. I must say the old PS is extremely effective, and I enjoy not having a monthly fee. I don't know how everyone affords it.
I apologize for going off-topic.
I like version 2 better. Just shows what can be achieved by re-visiting a photo from scratch.
