A man who has lost everything joins others paid to convey a wealthy man’s wife – and a mysterious treasure – to safety in San Francisco.

19th-century figure Joaquin Murietta is a formerly wealthy and respected California landowner. However, he has lost his land, his wife, and everything else he held dear. Embittered and questioning his previous faith in God and man, he joins a disparate group of men hired to convey a wealthy man’s wife away from the bandit-ridden countryside to safety in San Francisco. Murietta discovers that the convoy is also carrying a treasure of great material and religious value. He finds himself challenged to decide what he believes, and what he should do, in the face of threats to himself, to the convoy, and to the people of southern California.

The film was praised for its performances, direction, and production values. It was nominated for two Primetime Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Single Program – Drama.

IM LOVING THIS MOVIE!! light hearted banter but full of dangerous inuendos! lol i love ricardo! and the rest of the great cast! its like visiting old friends of the past! and i noticed something you dont ever see in todays work force!? even though the husband called them peons? he was still taking care of them! seeing to their well being gone are them good days! but istill remember the 60s and 70s when most people were treated very well who worked for our ranches. and now back to this cool movie! thanks for the upload!
