The defense – NOT the refs – lost the game for the Texans | Jags 24 – Texans 21

Don’t get me wrong. The referees weren’t good today. But Texans’ DBs were CONSTANTLY chasing Jaguars wide receivers, while their defense was unable to generate pressure on Trevor Lawrence. Add in a backup kicker…and fine, spotty officiating…and the Texans now find themselves firmly out of the running for an AFC South crown. #Texans #HoustonTexans #CJStroud #NFL #Jaguars #JacksonvilleJaguars #Duuval #WeAreTexans #TexansFootball #AFCSouth

  1. Was at the game today , and I can't say the refs cost us this game ….. they did however influence the game in favor of the jags …. watching us get 3rd down stop after stop just for a ref to throw a flag. The tank catch was whatever , the 2 p.a calls on back to back plays where horrible

  2. Refs didn’t help, but Ryan’s play calling in the second half got real stupid at the worst times. Why are you running 30 yard pass plays when you need 1 yard for the first down? And doing it on forth down no less. And also, I know everybody wants to think he can do no wrong, but cj stroud, my man…… RUN THE BALL. I get waiting an extra few seconds to let your guys get open, but when everyone is locked down, the rush is coming, run the damn rock. I’m not saying run it to the house like Vick (which I find hilarious that stroud said he looked up to him as a kid) I rather you run n slide after 5 or 6 yards, than you waste 20 seconds in the backfield running around just to throw the ball away. Had he ran for just 4, 5 yards our kicker makes that kick

  3. How tf can you say the defense lost this? Yes they could have been better but at the same time their offense would not have done so well if not for the egregious calls.

Defense making mistakes is at least natural football. Referees making suck lopsided ticky tack or just total BS calls at one pivotal point after another is not the natural flow of the game….

Your take is self righteous and seriously flawed. Quit supporting rigging in sports.

Then again, you do work for ESPN so you don't want to get spanked for being honest about the NFL…

  4. The fact Stroud can't run up 3 yards on that last 3rd down of the game. He had all day and the room to do it. 58 yard fg could have been a 55 and very makeable. Hell he probably could have ran for 5 yards. Easy

  5. In what world is CJ better than Trevor Lawrence Don't speak for jaguar fans, we love Trevor we are 8 and 3 without Trevor we will not be anywhere near this record. Yeah, underestimate 16 you will see

  6. How are you going to praise this defense for being a bend don't break defense but then not blame the refs for them losing this game the defense did exactly what it's been doing and holding teams out of the end zone even though letting up massive yardage. Jacksonville should have only had 14 points to our 28 if Stroud and Tank weren't cheated out of that big bomb early that stunted our momentum.

  7. Lawrence outplayed Stroud yesterday. Both had nice numbers but Lawrence answered Strouds scoring drives every time with a scoring drive
Of his own. Not to mention take away Ridley’s drop in the end zone and Lawrence would have surpassed 400 yards on the day. Not to mention the Jags got the win and locked down the division again!

  8. Yeah right. All the non-existent DPIs were enough to change the outcome. Then there was the sideline catch that clearly was a catch. AND THEN the illegal motion that they refused to show during the broadcast, but guess what, its on the internet. All 22 players and Dell is the only player moving, aka LEGAL shift. And then the clear false start that everyone is screaming for and the refs conveniently ignore.

Its no wonder the Texans are filing for an official review. I hope that entire ref team gets booted from the league. I have never screamed at a TV like I did during that game.
