  1. It’s funny, as a graduate from James Madison Elementary School, they never mentioned this….
BTW- Depending on the school, in America (yes we name our schools after “important” people) if your school is named after someone important, you get to learn ALL about them…

The way Simon deals with the history of England is admirable. It seems most of the UK people have a better way of dealing with the past. “It was the past. We did lots of horrible things. We’re going to try to not do horrible things anymore.”
Maybe it’s because the USA is still SO young. I want my country to become what the constitution says it is…but I think we still have many more growing pains…

  2. How do you leave out the hurricane and tornado that hit Washington the next day that tossed British cannons around like twigs.

Its the main reason they left so quick. Their supplies were f$@ked on top of the high casualties.

  3. The US and Britain miscalculated what they were entitled to. Britain felt they could disrupt commerce at their discretion and the US thought Canada would join the US. For the latter, it would have been better to have Thomas Jefferson and his colleagues spend time in Toronto and Montreal messaging these thoughts. At that time, the US army was too small and so poorly led at the top. When Napoleon surrendered, England sent a powerful well trained experienced army to the US capturing and burning Washington DC but they knew Baltimore was more important for commerce. Francis Scott Key a US lawyer, was negotiating with the British on their ship in Baltimore harbor for the release of a colleague. They agreed but told him he had to stay on the ship as they about to bombard Fort McHenry in Baltimore harbor.

The US militias were well prepared so the British Army could not break through while Fort McHenry existed. The British commander on the ground was KIA. So the bombardment began and continued for 67 hours which is when the ships ran out of ammunition. Scott Key wrote his thoughts viewing the bombardment which eventually became the Star Spangled Banner. The British realized that the capture of Baltimore was impossible so received new orders so the army re-boarded their ships and sailed to New Orleans to take the city at the mouth of the Mississippi, but General Andrew Jackson was waiting for him. The British army that burned Washington DC was annihilated in New Orleans. The sad part was that the peace treaty ending the war had already been signed.

Not sure when your video was made but we now know the FBI, IRS, CIA, Facebook, Google, Twitter, etc were organized to ensure Biden was elected blocking so much information that may have changed the election results. And on that sad day only the Capitol Police had firearms and one trespasser paid the ultimate price.
