The wretch has never been the best class for optimisation, you can never min max with it if you want to stay at pvp META.
I chose this class for my playthrough for this exact reason, it made finding weapons/armour more exciting too. I learnt this from DS3. Much better for trying out different builds then you can make a dedicated character later on if you pick a favourite

People saying wretch is bad for PvP are virgin duelists. The chad invader is almost always against 2/3 v 1 situations. Only erratic crack head energy can overcome those odds consistently.

I don't understand why people have ever acted like the deprived class which is now called the wretch class is somehow weaker than the other ones. The only way it is as if you're talkin about an optimized build for PVP in which you maybe lose like 4-5 points of optimization which for a first-time players playthrough in PVE doesn't matter in any way at all

The wretch is not perfectly optimized for every build. Unless you want 1 character for every build, sure it's ok, but it's not perfectly optimal.

Never played a souls game and I picked wretch as my starting class. Had a absolutely horrible time in the beginning, especially trying to find a sword and armor. There's no better feeling than finding your first pair of pants after running for hours naked.

Wretch is great for experimenting and being able to respec to roughly whatever you want, but it's god awful for build optimization at specific rune/meta levels.

One way to maintain wretch status throughout the game is to level EVERY stat equally. Say you have 40 for everything now you’re still mega balanced
