The exterior sort of looks inspired by Gaudi. Just imagine, the designers thought about making health care available. The US has gone in the opposite direction.
Victuals is pronounced "viddles." 😊
It has sound insulation! How did we lose that innovation?
WOW!!!
It's amazing how there were guys with propellers on their beanies back then too. No thank you.
It's funny that you had to move the one phone from room to room. They never imagined owning multiple phones.
Chefs, planes and hospitals (doctors). I wonder what the monthly rent would have been for these units?
Today's schematic, instead of overhyping the word "electric", has the words "WiFi Enabled" on everything including toasters and blankets.
HELLO!!! We have basically this today. Only we hate them and vilify them because of what we call them. Nursing homes!!!!
Cooling brine in summer; I was wondering if they’d predicted the increased need for central air in the future.
I wish they had provided a sample of the "snappy jokes"!
A original assisted living apartments, now they are for 55 and older. Not families .
I'd live there. Rent was probably $200/mo.
Where in Cleveland was this?
I’m ready to move in!
care to guess which demographic this particular bit of
paid content, from the 1920s, was aimed at?
(hint: it was not you and i)
I love me some paleofuturism, even if not too crazy.
"We hear the latest news, interspersed by snappy jokes and songs". Apparently all new was happy news in the then future.
A moat? Did they have cauldrons of burning oil on the roof to fend off the poors trying to get in?
Despite all the amenities of these apartments, I wonder who could pay for them on those days. Of course not the average American family of the day.
Im in a relatively new building, and i can hear my a-hole neighbor downstairs stomping around and slamming doors
I live in an apartment building dating from around 1924. Still have the under sink fridge from which the freon gas was removed decades ago. Now used for storage. Have a pull-out breadboard in the kitchen and a pull-down ironing board in the dining room. The large walk-in closet once included a murphy bed which is long gone. There is a strange old single hole plug in one of the walls, its purpose unknown. Wish they had put some insulation in the walls as I can hear my neighbor cough during his late night telephone calls. Also, in the radiator area, the floor has sunk a bit, providing a convenient entry way for mice. Most of the things named in the article are available today in some form or other, especially if you live in an upscale retirement home.
Several city blocks for green space in New York City. Sure Jan.
My apartment building (on Riverside drive) was built in 1930. It is so much better than apartment buildings built today: cheap drywall, low ceilings, small rooms.
Sounds like the future "15 minute cities" the WEF keep talking about.
The people back then sure had a rod for the electrical things,………… Until they got the bill!🥲
Woohoo!….Radium treatments……. I didn’t need my jaw anyway.😮
This is when there was a cohesive society and not fractured.
"Bottles of near beer" lol hello Prohitibion, I didn't see you there
Hopefully, the maid is the highest paid person in the building with the chefs, and the garbage personnel are paid at a similar rate.
The engine room in the basement sounds like he’s describing a battleship.
HIDEOUS! READY TO COLLAPSE! UGLIEST BUILDING I'VE EVER SEEN! 🌬 🏬
