  1. The worst Irish accent I've ever encountered wasn't in a movie, and technically wasn't an Irish accent, (but it was very clearly based on one): The Dragon Prince, on Netflix.
Rayla's accent in that was so terrible, it actually made the whole show 10x more enjoyable.

  2. Wicked the stage play clocks in at about 2 hours and twenty minutes. I can understand feeling that's too long and not wanting to cut 20 minutes…. but there is no reason at all it needs to be two movies except for pure greed. The big song they're picking to be the stopping point happens about 80 minutes in.

There's zero plot resolutions at that breaking point and the second half is going to need nearly an hour of padding to reach a real screentime. This is less a Lord of the Rings situation and more like the Hobbit.

If they're pushing for two 120 minute films they'll be inventing a lot of new stuff. And if they're just shooting for two 90 minute films what's even the point?

  3. I think that a good way to introduce Mary to the narrative would be to do a similar video where you showed your parents the Avengers to where you, your darling parents, and Mary go watch Paddington 3. 🙂

  4. Mary should be a journalist hacker who gets enough info to be convinced good Patrick is the bad guy and becomes a thorn in his side like JJJ and Spiderman. She rarely comes into contact with Patrick, investigating him remotely. At some point she learns the truth about what some powerful organisation who want to hurt Patrick and friends and becomes a sort of deep throat. Investigating and hacking and then passing the info anonymously onto him. As some point they meet in person outside Patrick's parents house.

  5. I saw the Kieslowski Three Colors -trilogy on bluray at my local library, "maybe I need to finally watch it". Later I noticed that the trilogy was published on HBO Max and thought that I should definitely watch it. Now Patrick mentions the same trilogy. I guess I should check it out.

  6. After the real life vacation, Patrick accidentally ends up vacationing in Vermont (perhaps a wormhole from Jamaica lands him in Vermont on Groundhog Day). Mary is his tour guide, but Patrick can only think of all Vermont filmmakers and movies set in Vermont over the course of history.

  7. I live in VT. I don’t even look for movies in limited release, I couldn’t find Glass Onion, I would have seen that in the theater. I was unaware of RRR until really late. No idea where it would have been playing in Burlington.
