Tesla to quit Australia’s main automotive lobby over its ‘false claims’

Elon Musk’s electric car giant Tesla will quit the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries, claiming its members are seeking to ‘raise’ not ‘reduce’ total vehicle emissions by 2030.

The FCAI is the long-time representative of the auto industry – it lobbies the government, makes submissions and puts out vehicle sales stats.

On Wednesday, the FCAI gave its response to the government’s New Vehicle Efficiency Standard, noting SUVs and light commercial vehicles make up around 80 per cent of total sales.

Tesla responded to FCAI CEO Tony Weber, saying, ‘Over the past three weeks, Tesla considers that the FCAI has repeatedly made claims that are demonstrably false.’

‘If consumers believe the FCAI’s false claims that electric vehicles are about to reduce in price by as much as 25 per cent next year, many will conclude they should avoid purchasing one now.’

Tesla also argued if high-emission vehicles are to increase in price by $13,000 from next year, people might rush out and buy those instead right now.

  1. Climate change is a lie, those pushing it should be ashamed of themselves.Propaganda, brainwashing, repeat a lie constantly and some people will believe it.Same with the science, the virus, the injections, these people are mad.The climate has always changed, this is not about emissions, this is about total control. The WEF,U.N.W.H.O.,Bill Gates, agenda 2030,CBDC,Great Reset, etc….leave us alone, you are not our Masters.

  3. The bottom line is that anyone who really needs/wants a diesel powered 4WD for work or recreation e.g. towing a boat or caravan will obtain one. They will either pay the additional price for a new one, buy a good second hand one, or hang onto their existing one.
My 2004 pre common rail Prado is looking more attractive all the time. Got at least another 300k kilometers left in it, which should be enough to see me out.

  5. EV are so overpriced the majority probably over 70 percent of potential buys can't afford them…EV sales are going nowhere but down along with the number of units sold…buy what is useful and affordable

  6. For the vast majority of people an EV will mean buying a Chinese car (other options being way to expensive). In the same breath the government says we need to be wary of China and its expansionism, spend BILLIONS more ramping up our military capacity in response, yet at the very same time we MUST become more reliant on China for manufactured goods, especially energy generation and transportation.
Do I sense a whole lot of BS is being peddled????

  7. Burning fossil fuel cause heart and lung diseases and cancer. Can people finally understand that. Buying diesel cars especially is just ludicrous. Its just pushing the oil companies agenda. Can people actually think these days? For small distances use a bicycle. Holland as a flat country has twice the bicycles per capita. Ex petrol head.

  8. Teslas are over priced rubbish, running on coal in Australia. With dangerous so called hi tech engingeering. And Causing more damage to the earth, it's just a shift in what's being mined and all mining is finite. It is about making money and then controlling all the population, except for the polys and elites.
People, you need to wake up.
