  1. Qin Shi Huang(秦始皇) not only unified China, but also left two money-printing machines for future generations, the Great Wall and the Terracotta Warriors.

Farmers near the Terracotta Warriors have a saying: "Thanks to the Communist Party for the liberation, and thanks to Emperor Qin Shi Huang for making us rich".

  2. You should go at night to the Great Tang Nocturnal City, which is where you went in the first video. It's much prettier there at night and a lot more interesting than during the day.

  3. It is really bad time you are on tour to Xian. But I have no idea when you should do it cause of crowd always there everyday. OMG, you were around tightly with people , made me laugh whole day man.

  4. They were there buried with the emperor to be his security guards. Previous to this, it was live people ! Imagine the cruelty of the rulers in the long past !

  5. I visited terracotta warriors in Xi'an about 22 years ago, in august, and it was quite crowded… but now it's much worse. Funny fact: in Xuzhou city you can visit another terracotta army, from Han dinasty (Chu prince), much smaller (40 cm tall)…but there you can be quite and make interesting visits more enjoyable

  6. Your timing seems to line up with the majority of other peoples timing, is there a google information's that shows an hourly graph of visitor's peek?

  7. What an action packed video! 👍We visited the Terracotta Warrior Museum in 1986. Yes, almost 40 years ago. It was not so crowded then, and it was in November. As far as I could remember we saw only one pit, and they were working on e other ones. My wife and I took a bus to the train station trying to figure out how to get around to that museum and to the other tombs. There were many historical sites in the area. Fortunately we ran into a young couple from Hong Kong. So together we hired a driver with his mini-van to drive us around.

  8. You don't like crowded places, so you'll feel uncomfortable in popular places in China. There are just too many people in China. With the convenience of HSRs, all popular tourist attractions will draw huge crowds.

  9. Once again, you have done exceedingly well, Ben. It's not uncommon that people lose their civility when space gets overly crowded and this happens in any place. I still remember being pushed by "professional pushers" on Tokyo subway during rush hour when the cart was jammed like sardines. It didn't bother me one bit because I knew this is how it is. I wouldn't overthink about this type of thing and focus on the positive. As you know, most of 1.4 billion people in China live in the eastern part of the country. Many years ago, my group and I met the person who discovered the terracotta warriors and he was doing a singing there.

  10. It's quite hard to travel during summer holiday in China. I usually would select to climb mountains instead of going to cities in summer, to avoid heat wave and the crazy crowd. But nightlife is much more fascinating in summer than in other seasons. Overall, I prefer wonderful natural landscape than city historical attractions, that would be a great idea to go west to see amzaing desert, lakes, snow mountains, till the train takes me to the Tibetan Plateau. Xi'an is a good start if you decide to travel in the western part of China. Go north-west to Xinjiang, or south-west to Sichuan, Chongqing, Tibet.

  11. China is too crowded. But India is worse. What a great luxury it is to live in developed countries with so few people (that are not directly engaged in active wars). At this time in history it means the colonized "NEW world" ruled by the descendants of Anglo-Saxons and Europeans, e.g. Australia, NZ, Canada, the US, Brazil. So much undeveloped land and not many people. There are trade-offs, such as personal safety, convenience, cost of living, social polarization, economic growth.

  12. Lots of people 🤷🏻‍♂️ Ben Ben Ben, I hate to remind you but…. you’re in China 🤣😂 relax and enjoy 👊

Oh, I have my own terracotta warrior a mini one, it came with a limited Ed release of Jackie Chana The Myth 😂🤷🏻‍♂️

Talking of Xian, I must rewatch Longest Day in Chang’an 😅

  13. I totally feel you, you have to get out of your comfort zone and try to be as shamelessly disrespectful as the rest of the crowd. Maybe it's too late, I would strongly suggest you visit Hua mountain nearby, absolutely fantastic. BTW, if you are using google map, it is not very useful, you need to download and use 高德 map. Though the downside is (maybe) it is in Chinese only.

  14. Went there decade ago in April at that time they don't even allow camera inside the building, much have changed. Off season may give a better experience when there are less tourists.

  15. Seriously they need to limit the number of people visiting the site. I was there in 2013 and it wasn't so crazy back then. I had a great view everywhere I go.
