  1. temtem looks cool but i feel like most ppl like pokemon bc its pokemon not because its a particularly good game. i wish pokemon games could incorporate what the temtem devs have done but many pokemon fans wont care for the game since its not the same feel that we get when we play a pokemon game

  2. While I do like a lot of the monster designs, gotta say the aesthetic for the humans is less appealing. I also hope there is a satisfactory single-player campaign, as I've never cared much for the MMO experience. That may determine whether I get this or not, but I'll certainly give it a chance. I've heard good things about the typing and battle system too.

  3. All the things this games adds are nice and I hope Gamefreak adds to their next game, I just wish the Temtem were actually appealing designs. None of them really stand out.

  4. Regardless of if you like Tem Tem or not, things like this are great. Games like pokemon NEED competition to avoid laziness and a lack of innovation. Competition breeds it, and when companies are "alone at the top" for so long they have no reason to improve. I hope Tem tem really begins to threaten Gamefreak so they are compelled to innovate.

  5. TemTem just looks a little janky and unpolished to me and the art style is off IMO. And the monster designs just don't do it for me.
unfortunately it's just not enough to give me any sense of immersion.

i'm happy it has mechanics people want and people enjoy it, but i'm definitely looking for something a little better

  6. The move animations alone of this game leave me speechless sometimes …..there's like a good 20 moves that I've' seen so far that just really make me feel like the developers are really putting in work and care about the game.

  7. I tested out the TemTem alpha a billion years ago and liked what I played! I think Gamefreak feels the pressure to cater to the lowest common denominator – they want everyone from kids to longtime Pkmn players to be able to play their game. TemTem, by growing their community initially/exclusively on Steam via early access, they can tailor their game to a much more niche audience. Now that it’s releasing on consoles, those other players will either love it or avoid it, which will only benefit the TemTem community

  8. With pokemon-like games, I feel the issue is that they try to achieve the simplicity in design of gen 1 pokemon across the board with their designs, but are made with modern graphics so there’s a dissonance there. Plus they tend to miss out on elements such as legendaries, as well as the pre-established context from the pokemon anime (and pop-culture as a whole) about how integrated pokemon are in society. It’s a truly monumental task to establish all that within one game, which is why I feel a lot of these styles of games fall short.

That said, I haven’t checked out Temtem since its initial wave on Youtube, so if they’ve somehow managed to establish everything that I feel needs to be there, I’ll definitely have to give it a look

It’s sorta a testament to how well pokemon rides its own influence to expand, with how every game trying to compete with it needs such significantly higher quality to get lasting attention. It’s also strange that higher-quality games that take inspiration from pokemon are only starting to appear recently, as well, but I hope it pushes this particular facet of gaming to be all the better for it

(Honestly Palworld is the pokemon-inspired game I’m most excited for though)

  9. Was excited for TemTem before the release of Legends Arceus, But now, not so much. Scarlet & Violet are set to release this year, the first true open world Pokémon Game, making TemTem even more irrelevant & Out of date. Those of use who have been around since Red, Blue, & Yellow, are some what tired of the old style system and have wanted change for a long time Legends Arceus, Scarlet & Violet brought that change, I don't personally plan on ever going back.

  10. The biggest strength of Temtem is it being multiplatform and has both cross play & cross progression meaning that Temtem will always have an audience and you can continue on a different platform like playing on Xbox to Nintendo Switch to Steam Deck.

  11. I've been playing Temtem since the launch of early access, and it has really evolved. Great animations, truly tactical battle with no RNG and Devs that really hear the community are the best points of it. Of course, it has a long way to go since it haven't even launched, but it is already an awesome game that has the potential to be a "threat" to Pokémon.

  12. I'd definitely like to give TemTem a shot when it comes out.
The designs of the Coromon are not quite on par with Pokemon, although to be fair GameFreak has had about three decades to perfect their art style.

Still though, it would be nice to see TemTem's take on the Pokemon formula.
