  1. It's so fascinating watching someone learning from scratch, because there's so much that I realised I just do automatically now. And I don't even consider myself a particularly advanced rider. After about 10 years of on and off riding lessons I've had my first horse for about a year now, and because of some issues we've had we've gone all the way back to basics. But that's what riding is all about isn't it.

Really wish I had somewhere nice to ride though. No arena, and with the way the UK weather has been it has been impossible haha Thick mud and rain right into completely solid ground.

  2. Omg I used to ride at this place and this video made me realise just how many happy memories I have of it. I started riding at Src when I was around 6 and left when I was around 13 years old because I got my own horse! This was about 2 years ago and Iโ€™ve gained so much experience since then. I learned so much from this place and made so many amazing friends. God I miss riding there but I wouldnโ€™t change what Iโ€™ve got for the world. โคโค

  3. Way to go, Pete! That was awesome! The trainer was really greatโ€ฆbut Peteโ€ฆYOU did so great! You look so comfortable with Spot at the end of the video. Totally night and day! That was HUGE progress in one lesson! Well done, you!

  4. Someone should tell/show Pete exactly where his feet need to be in the stirrups (ball of the foot on the stirrup iron) so that he would have a better/stabler place to push up from when posting. He did really, really well, I just think having his foot too far forward wasn't helping him post as much as it could have. It would be great if he took a couple of more lessons and then he could go out for nice hacks with Meg, don't you all think?

  5. Well done Pete for taking your first step to becoming a rider. You did really well in your first lesson. It is quite an alien feeling and possibly an unnerving experience if you've never been around or used to horses, as indeed Meg is. Like others have said, a series of viseos on how you started riding. And even I could see what a difference in the way you were starting to relax and get into riding. Keep up the riding lessons Pete and well done again. And I bet Meg, Hobbit and Han are all pleased for you. ๐Ÿ˜€

  6. I have been riding all my life and get so uncomfortable in front of strangers. I can not imagine how hard it must be to have a first lesson on camera! I hope Pete takes more lessons, not just for our sakes.

  7. Bravo Fella! One of my favorite instructors suggested this when I was learning to โ€œrise to the trotโ€โ€”said imagine you were pushing a drawer closed with your belly. It
automatically changes the vector of your motion.

  8. I love this! My partner asked for lessons last Christmas so he could enjoy my hobbies! Sadly he turned out to be a ๐Ÿ†head and left me, however it is such a nice feeling to have your partner trying out your favourite thing!

  9. Lovely instructor for a nervous new rider
The peanut gallery was downright mean! And that was exactly why they were banned from the arena ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ˜‚make sure Pete gets to see the near hysterics of someone riding those other horses!
