Taylor and Hayley Odlozil had a child via surrogate in 2019, despite her terminal ovarian cancer

Taylor Odlozil married his high school sweetheart, Hayley, after finding out she had terminal ovarian cancer and could not have kids. The two decided to have a child with a surrogate in 2019, even though they knew Hayley would only be there for brief of the child’s life. Taylor opened up about deciding the baby’s gender during the surrogacy process.

  1. In majority countries you just know the number of embrios you have, you find out gender when you are 10 weeks pregnant like everyone else.

Because you should be grateful that ivf worked out at all, and you will become a parent at all.

Gender choosing literally puts as back in ancient time, where certain genders were prefered

  2. I think what is wrong with this is if they believe in god they would not have done IVF. As Christians don’t believe in IVF. And what about your child…. What about the impact of them not having a mom….. it’s all very selfish.

  3. Wow am I the only one who thinks this is really messed up?! I mean, if you really want the healthiest baby, why even bother about the gender and come on it’s 2024 and some people still have this weird obsession with boys!

  4. 10-12 viable embryos that’s what he said. What happened to those precious babies. Life begins at conception. Those are humans. We should not play God. This is super scary hearing him talk so chill about this. IV is immoral. Unfortunately people can’t always get what they want. I wish everyone who wanted a baby could have one but some people just can’t have biological children. It’s very sad but we should not be playing God to just get what you WANT. It is not a right to have children.

  5. I understand that this family was going through so much at the time of this decision but choosing an embryo based on gender is disgusting to me no matter if it was a girl or a boy. I don’t believe in IVF at all morally or ethically. All the other viable embryos will just.. what? Die? Remain frozen? These are babies lives we are playing with

  6. I know a lot of people are going to be mad about this. But he’s just being honest. He wanted a boy. That’s allowed. You shouldn’t lie about your feelings even if they aren’t the most decent feelings.

I don’t want my husband to tell me he loves my dress when he thinks it’s ugly.

  7. Wow. 10-11 healthy embryos died so that they could have one born. And Christians say they believe that life begins at conception yet they're fine discarding healthy and "non viable" embryos. How many dead because of this? Embryos are human people with their own unique DNA.

  8. So you didn’t actually agree to do the healthiest option. Number 1 and number 2 were girls. But that wasn’t good enough. I find this gross and weird. Glad the comment section agrees 😅

  9. Any time I listen to you talk about your late wife makes me cry. You have done such an amazing job going through this process and my heart aches for you and your boy. I’m sure your wife’s looking down on you and smiling. Stay strong, Gods with you every day. ❤

  10. Wow all the hate. I cannot believe. Hailey wanted to give him that boy so he'd have a pal and companion. She knew she may not live and wanted him to have a son. I don't see anything wrong if you get to choose getting what you want. It's not like they had an abortion based on sex. He's would've made a great girl dad too.

  11. Obviously, he wasn't "fine having a girl." He bypassed the 2 healthiest embryos. I don't agree with his sentiments at all, but I'm glad it was a boy because I do think it's "easier" for lack of a better word for this single man to raise a boy. Sounds like he would've been lost with a girl. Having said that, I certainly hope no future daughters in his life ever feel that they are "second best."

  12. I have a lot of empathy for this man, and all that he has suffered, but what he is talking about here is evil. Those embryos are all children and to be able to talk like this about discarding human beings is a true tragedy. Our culture has failed him.
