I was raised in the fundie born again rapture-obsessed culture and had to recover from the abusive, oppressive dynamics there. So yeah a lot of those folks fully believe that all this is predestined according to gods plan and is a way to cull out the sin and punish the unsaved aka liberals 🤣🤣🤣🤣 always makes me giggle AF now. But I’ve seen shifts happening in individuals at a level that surprises me. Definitely not a shift happening in the group collective but I have forwarded Jem Bendell’s Deep Adaptation paper to several people- who have or are reading it!- and some of those folks identify as born again Christians. Definitely not every religious person is a hateful bigoted d bag hiding behind ultra white American republican Jesus 🤣 and there are plenty of people who, while not yet at this deep end of the collapse spectrum, are definitely not in denial and delusion to the degree we often just expect them to be. I like this line from Men In Black (the movie)-a person is smart. people are dumb panicky dangerous animals and you know it. 🤣🤣🤣 but I believe that having really good, wise, solid content and conversations like this will continue to draw individuals who are able and willing to be collapse aware and that could be way more than we cynically imagine.
I watch many extreme weather channels and yes the commenters say we are in the end times of the Judeo-Christian bible. They don't like the words climate change. They will say extreme weather events.
Antonio made a really good point when he said the surface heat is so intense it's pulling moisture out of the soil making it rigid, then when a deluge of rain falls the soil lacks the flexibility to absorb it and you get these rivers of water flowing from open land into towns, washing away cars, houses, people, etc.
Wrt sea level rise, I think another shock is in the pipeline. Sea level rise will, at some point, take a big jump.
What happens when you slow cook an ice sheet? Scientists are starting to make observations that may answer that question.
Is it just me, so others think extreme weather events have exploded over the past 2-3 years? Maybe it seems that way to me since the heat dome affected our area a few years ago. But it does seem like there has been a noticeable uptick in extreme events dominating the news these days.

The floodings you show at 37 min go so well with the calculation i saw from England years back, were they calculated 12% more moisture in the atmosphere and that also equal 1,8 Celsius warmer atmosphere.
if you take the cubic volume of the atmosphere that can hold moisture and giv it a figure and ad on 12% you get a lot of cubic miles of extra atmospheric moisture.

It’s the property insurance that’s skyrocketed, not so much the flood insurance. Last year I paid about $1200 for each. Sold the house a few months ago and the new owners are looking at over $6000 for the property insurance. Got hit with about $35,000 damage from Ian and we were lucky. We paid about $8000 after deductible. Glad to be back in Michigan where the water is alligator and brain eating bacteria free and the skies are clear. Wait! Hold on…. You can’t eat the fish here because of PFAS and we have air quality alert today because of Paul Beckwith campfire smoke. No place is safe.
