This flick is one notch below "Robocop" in terms of an absolutely perfect satire… The "main" characters (Casper Van Diem and Denise Richards) were ok, but the backing characters were flawless (Michael Ironside, Clancy Brown, Dina Meyer, Jake Busey)… Overall fantastic flick!
Noticing now how much the music sounds like robocop music

not gonna lie the 2nd and 3rd installment for this is meh i still prefer this one and i did like the starship trooper animated movie Starship Troopers: Invasion and Starship Troopers: Traitor of Mars

It would also take an impossible amount of time. Let's say they can shoot at the speed of light. Then the asteroid could be as small as a tennis ball and still cause massive destruction, traveling about 100,000 years to Earth.
But we know from the movie that it was much bigger and that it was slow enough for the ship to dodge it. So it would fly for about 1.2 billion years… and then hit perfectly.

It's heavily implied that the rock that destroyed Buenos Aires wasn't actually launched by the bugs, but was a false flag operation designed to boost war fervor for recruitment. The humans are losing (and pretty badly), and the entire film is basically just satire on war propaganda. That's why you see younger and younger recruitment, restrictions on social freedoms unless you enlist, etc. The humans are fighting an unwinnable war that they probably started over resources.
