  1. I build my nexerelin colony in a system with two terran moons; one with bountiful farmlands and medium ores and one with good bionics and medium ores. I colonized the two rocks and the gas giant for good meassure too.

  2. Never seen anyone befriend the AI, and then settle into a Nexus system. Would the remnants treat your fleets as friendly as well or does that apply to the player only? Any visitors to your system would be smoked, including trading convoys..

  3. They introduced a fantastic feature in one of the latest Nex builds: You can now have a detachment, with officers and a fleet commander, that you can build and control directly. I have one with 4 Capitals, 4 Cruisers, 8 Destroyers and 12 Frigates with 8 lvl 5 officers that I leveled myself defending my main system. They can even deal with pirate and pather bases if you tell them to patrol the offending system. They of course cost money to mantain. This Detachment in particular costs me 80k credits a month which considering it can deal with mostly everything the game can throw at you, it's a steal.

  5. Not gonna spoil you, but I picked up the ability to build gates in systems that are mine. Also, there is a way to improve your rep with the Remnants. I Built my base system in one that was swarming with them. I have 4 colonies in it now and they leave me alone. I have a neutral to Remmnents. I can go up to the stations and talk with them. Also, you can put colonies on the gas giants. And before some one says it I did not cheat. I kind of stumbled upon it. I can spell I swear.

  6. I dont remember which Industry skill it is that lets you take off debuffs but watching another guys playthrough I was screaming at him TAKE THAT SKILL. I dont think people get how important that skill is. Pick up a totallly messed up ship honking big ship and a few months later you have a first line combatant cheap. All it costs was a little fuel and time in mothballs following you around like a lost puppy. Plus maybe that big scary mostly empty ship makes the computer hesitate at jumping your fleet at times.

Like I said…I wish this series was already ready for binge watching.

  7. A fast way to clear a remnants System is to kill only the nexus and leave the system. If you come back after some time all fleets have left the system. I dont know how long, but a fly to the core get my stuff and fly back was enough.

  8. one option you forgot about was that you could have gotten a couple fuel ships and marines to capture one of the undefended pirate or luddic path planets of your choice (or both) since a couple dont actually have stations.

  9. Picked this game up last week after watching this series. I"m at the point now where I have an Onslaught built well and while its like driving a fat cow man is it amusing to watch it just boop small ships that try to rush it. Can't wait to see how you use these capitals!

  10. I know you're not a huge fan of the Conquest because the broadside weapons design is kind of bad (the forward missile hardpoints, in particular, seem to cause the AI terrible confusion) but have you ever tried outfitting it asymmetrically? I.e. put a bunch of long range weapons on the right for fleet support, and short-range weapons on the left for brawling? Is this a workable idea?
