Hey, you finally got your Greenhouse! Nice. No more single shelf Hydroponic Shelf for you!
I like to move all my workbenches to the HQ, and the Food Creater to the Canteen where it belongs. There is room for a seed machine beside the composter in every Greenhouse, so I put those there. All I keep in my main Workshop is a Fridge, a 3D Printer, and a CO2 Scrubber
I only see the benefit of having a workshop if it is near it's own greenhouse and dome. The workshop houses the fridge in which I keep a seed shooter, Plant Crate, seeds, plants and vegetables, and some food packets, specifically for the greenhouse near it
Spreading your greenhouse/dome combos out throughout the base is probably good for generating even amounts of oxygen. I also like a Large Central Dome which I fill with trees for beauty and oxygen production
I like to call those flexible up or down corridores "boots" v). I often had to elevate parts of my base for the game to let me build it 🙂
I know what you're gonna say – I don't have a canteen yet. Well, you should. It's the only way I know of besides perhaps the glitchy Hanger where you can charge your suit without having to put on your helmet and go outside. I know when I'm on a plant growing/genetic seed modification frenzy, I'm indoors for days on end, and the last thing I want to have to do is put on my helmet just to go outside to charge my suit 🙂 The canteen is sad and empty with only a food processor in it, but serves such a handy purpose!
I need to get making videos ASAP. I want to show off my Alpha-Beta base, my giant-arssed antenna network spanning the entire known map, and the new man made GPS Locator Coordinate system I just cooked up! 🙂
Oh, and my Giant-Arssed Antenna network now spans out to the location of the Tesla Roadster 😉
LOL, always run out of hose right at rhe end too 🙂 It's good that pretty much all major buildings have water inputs. If you run water from a water zone in a different direction, it's nice to build a vertical tank right there and run the new water feed right in to the nearest building, rather than having to run hose all around your base to a central pump on the other side, every time 🙂
As I mentioned in a comment in a previous video, I generally run water from at least 3 surrounding water zones, so that the 3 together give me over 50 Litres/Hr of water to grow my plants. I believe once my Alpha-Base is done, I will need upwards of 100 Litres of water per hour, 24-7. That will be a tall order. Lots of hose!!!
You had the same problem I had! You didn't complete the plant tutorial either, eh? I had to search to find out that you need to compost silicone to create soil. Organic waste only produces Nitrogen fertilizer, which just makes plants grow faster. You're gonna need about 60 or 70 silicone per greenhouse, and hundreds for domes, depending on how big they are. As for pooping, don't lose too much sleep over it. Once you unlock automatic composting in the Bottany tree, you will have stupid amounts of Nitrogen in all things with a composter from that point on without having to do another thing. That tech power is way too OP 🙂
Oh, P.S. Keep a workshop with a fridge near each greenhouse with a fridge, and keep your seeds, seed shooter, and plant crate in that fridge. You'll be glad to have them handy. Tip of the Pros! ;D
Oh, I almost forgot, one more critical pro tip – take your well zone off of your main power grid. Managing base power for the greenhouses and plants is tough enough. It's also not worth the effort. Trust me, you will need water from more than 1 water zone for your base anyways, so the sooner you start treating each one as its own entity needing it's own power infrastructure, the sooner you will develop good habits that will aid and speed up future expansion.
For your main well zone, becuase you produce Oxygen and Methane there, make 2 medium solar panels, one unupgrades transformer to hook them together, one battery with 2 upgrades, and a second transformer with an upgrade to distribute power to all your wells. Make sure your battery puts out less than 42 power or so (i.e. less than half of what the 2 medium solar panels produce each hour). This will give you maximum water production 24-7 with no impact on other aspects of your base.
For future additional well sites, make 1 medium solar panel, 1 battery with 1 upgrade, an unupgraded transformer, 3 wells, and a pump. Hook them all together. 3 wells need less than 20 kw/hr combined, so your battery takes in 42 power or so, and puts out less than 20, giving it enough power for the entire night as well. Then run a long-arssed hose to the nearest part of your base, build a horizontal tank to hold the water, and connect it to the nearest water input. If you do this with 3 well sites, you will have roughly 50 litres of water being produced every hour 24-7 and assuming you usually use less tham that with your plants, you will eventually end up with stupid amounts of water in reserve (3 horizontal tanks holdna ridiculous amount of water).
If you always do your water like that, you can continue to expand regularily, and you too will have a giant-arssed base in no time! 😀
If your at all worried about how many small circuit boards this will take, you don't need too. After a few excursions to abandoned bases with the giant rover with a container on the back to hold all the goods. and you will have more small and medium circuit boards than you'll know what to do with
You will get more seeds too, although it never seems like you will till it happens. Seed spawms seem to happen all at once. I have 10 seed types finally (I think that might be all there are), but I had only potatoes and beetroot for ages. Then suddenly, in 1 base, I got spruce, lettuce, peppers and pumpkins. Then much later in the game, boom, several bases in a row, I got tomatoes, cabbage, oxygen trees, Poplar trees, Apple trees, and more peppers and pumpkins. After those few bases, the seeds stopped spawning, and I haven't seen a rare seed in a base since. All I can figure is that it is some kind of swarm effect that comes on, as weird as that sounds.
U cool guy pls do vido vaster
