“100% union. 100% closed. 100% immoral.” That’s how members of Starbucks Workers United (SBWU) sum up the company’s plan to shutter all its stores in Ithaca, N.Y., on May 26.
Workers at the Commons location, by the city’s popular pedestrian mall, learned of the closures at work on Friday. District Manager Andrew Sugar read a prepared statement citing “financial and operational needs” as the reason for shutting down the store. When asked about the possibility of transferring to the Meadow Street location, Sugar said that outlet would be permanently closed as well.”*

Unions are not usually beneficial to the customer. Likewise, if they don’t want unions then it’s their business to run as they please. Anyone is welcome to start a new business to compete with them if they wish to do so. If you don’t like that, then don’t work there, and don’t shops there either. That seems fair to me.
Is this retaliation from the tea factors and chocolate factory in Africa that are currently sued by the owners who own the largest factories in Africa that supply Starbucks across the world? Good for them. They are also trying out of paying workers and supply medical coverage in Africa, too. Hope you guys do a video on that as well.

I get the urge to want to help the workers, but anyone with an ounce of common sense should have known that you can’t simply open up a business on a college campus without permission.
