Star Wars The Vintage Collection The Rescue Set with Dark Trooper, Mandalorian, Grogu & Moff Gideon

The Vintage Collection Rescue Set should have included an alternate head for the Dark Trooper – it leaves this Dark Trooper being very scene specific and doesn’t allow to display pre-destruction. The small piece that looks like the end of the spear is actually used to fill the hole in the gauntlet when not using the fire effects (but you only get one).

Moff Gideon has a new cloth cape. The Mandalorian has new paint apps and includes the spear + fire effects. Grogu has binders (handcuffs). The box acts as a display piece, but thats about it. Minor updates and a new Dark Trooper.

  1. I love this box set and hope it will be available in quantities of the Emperor last year. I so much would love to get it before it sells out. My only irk are the gauntlets and I wish they were either interchangeable or differently designed. Does Morak Din Djarin head fit onto this Sculpt? Also hope that visor will be mostly straight this time, the misprint / skew on TVC basic figure is atrocious and took me months to find one with relatively straight visor print.

  2. Nice review. I really like the new cape for the Mandalorian but I prefer the plastic cape for Moff Gideon. I'm not a fan of soft goods for action figures and I like them when they are really good like Mando's cape. The whistling birds look fantastic the mando fire looks very good and the fire for the dark trooper isn't very impressive
I really want a Din with whisling birds, clean armor, rocker ankles and soft cape. The truth is that Hasbro set the standards very high with the new Vader and it's hard to impress us now 😀

  3. Awesome review. I have a question. Is it worth the extra S&H to get this set? I am so disappointed in the stores here in the US with preorders thus far. Boba Morak, Stormtroooper Nevarro, Axes Wolves, and etc. Thanks to your review, I am seriously debating on ordering. Thanks in advance for any thoughts or advice you’d be willing to share.

  4. Hello BB, long time viewer first time commenter… the little spear tip fills in the whistling birds gauntlet hole . Wish they had given us “2”… couldn’t agree more that they should have added a second dark trooper head. Keep up the great work…. Keith j.

  5. Hey Tim, question for next weeks Q&A, do you think Hasbro will bring the selfie series to the UK? I know it’s not for everyone but I for one am desperate for this, would pay more than Hasbro even charging to get one 🙂 – it really annoys me how they only offer this to customers in the states 🙁

As always keep up the good work, will see you at Echo at weekend 🙂

  6. That’s too bad it just didn’t have an alternative head. Damage kind of ruins any versatility. Too bad they didn’t do the inner package smarter. Could have made a half decent play set. Looked junky when u took it out. Characters look nice, but for basically repaints and all combined just too much.
