The Resistance destroyed the largest military asset of the rising First Order, how are they now winning the war? Where is the Republic? This whole movie is insanity! Plus, Finn is humiliated, Poe is on Leia's shitlist, and Rey is a master duelist without ANY TRAINING!
Holdo is a moron. Not only does she keep her best fighters in the dark about her entire plan, for no reason, but her lightspeed kamikaze should never have worked. If it did then the First Order, the Rebels, the Empire, the Republic or the Seperatists would have tried it by now.
"She's gonna stay behind…its probably for the best muhahaha" I nearly died laughing hehehe
Those cute little Porgs hehe
Your reaction is always fun.
Great visual effects
I also love Rey and Kylo teaming up briefly in Snoke's throne room.
Unfortunately there are far too many plot and character choices that were terrible in this movie.
I completely agree that there were too many stupid moments of humor.
I especially hate how they wrote Luke.
Why did they write Luke so unlikable. His unstable behavior was out of character for him.
I refuse to believe Luke would loose it and try to murder Kylo in cold blood. If that's what they are actually implying then that's total BS.
Laurenn your right to think Luke would have handled that so much better.
I can't believe Mark Hamill agreed to let them almost destroy Luke's legacy. The only moment in the movie we see the real Luke is his actions at the end which unfortunately leads to his death.
Not cool
Glad you got into this one, your gorgeous smile shined so bright like the Cheshire Cat's, really made my night! And you smiled a lot watching this! It was so fun to hang out with ya, seeya again next movie night, in 30 seconds…
Watch it again. This is a very dense movie. It took multiple viewings to catch everything. This whole movie is about learning from failure. And everyone’s failing.
Did you notice the knife being CGI'd out during Rey and Kylo fighting Snokes guards?
That's right. Rey is so powerful, she can delete weapons from existence.
Seems like you didn't really grasp Luke's POV on Ben. "It passed like a fleeting shadow". It was only a brief second he considered it but it was just instinct. Unfortunately Ben saw Luke with his lightsber out and reacted. Luke has rash moments of weakness throughout the series. It's not new and was in line with his character at this point in his life.
never heard anyone say " my expectations are high bc of the force awakens"😭😭
8:34 meet THE PORGS, the most adorable creatures in the whole galaxy😍
The thing to remember is Luke actually sensed Palpatines energy thats why he drew his blade too i think the book goes into this
If its not written by GL its not Canon
Great look in this one!
Luke shrugging off is important for the story and isn't just a joke. He needed to trigger kylo enough so that kylo isn't thinking straight. Otherwise him being projection would be discovered.
Also star wars has always been full of jokes.
I LOVE ALL the Star Wars Movies whiney fan boys can stick it THIS WAS AWESOME !
Palpatine is Rey's grandfather and Anakin's father. Rey and Kylo are blood related. Eeeewwww…. lol
Incest seems to be the way in the Star Wars universe.
I had no problem with Luke being bitter. What a crime that they tried to give good guy Luke some depth! I left the cinema thinking “That was cool, except the casino part” and then i discovered that the nerd rage was strong with this one. It has it’s flaws but it wasn’t that bad and the back clash made Disney do a even worse job with the next one. Nice reactions as always! I waited for the death of Snoke 😁
Reaction rocked.
Movie sucked.
They need to use that place in Rebels, and remove the Rey saga from history
the worse 1 of them all
"Luke's Island" is actually Skellig Michael, about 8 miles off the southwest coast of Ireland. Dragonstone Island, on the other hand, is Gaztelugatxe, a tiny peninsula jutting into the Atlantic near Bermeo on the northern coast of Spain.
Not just a bad Star Wars film, but just a bad film. You can't just subvert all expectations with every plot line, or you end up with a movie where none of the stakes matter
Even Mark Hamill was disappointed on Luke in these movies.
Great reaction though!
See Ya!
Hey Lauren, it's interesting that you'd mentioned, "Game Of Thrones" considering that the actress who plays Captain Phasma is Gwendolyn Christie
Those penguin-like animals are called Porgs
This one should have been called ' How Disney screws up a franchise yet milks it for all they can '
You are absolutely right Lauren. That is not the Luke Skywalker we have come to know. Even Kenobi didn't walk down the hill and finish off Vader when he was helpless and that was after Vader murdered all those Jedi, younglings included. Now we are expected to believe that THE ONE PERSON who believed Vader could be saved, the in person who never gave up actually contemplated killing his own nephew because he sensed the Darkness building within him? No… Just know. They Assassinated the character of Luke Skywalker and you sensed that the moment her tossed the Lightsaber over his shoulder. I could go on and on about how Holdi was a hero when she rammed the enemy flagship but Finn was chastised for trying the same tactic 10 minutes later. Several things upset me in the sequel Trilogy. But I won't. I've said enough. The sequel Trilogy is just…. No.
That said… I still LoveLaurenn.
3 scenes redeem a little this film , first the confrontation between rey and luke, if luke had a lighsaber he would have defeated rey, second yoda goofing like in "the empire strikes back" but getting serious nonetheless , three watching kailo ren being totally fool by the power of luke. But its the film that showed that disney zero direction or script for this trilogy, if feel sorry for the actors. But hey they were paid millions, i wont cry.
The Force Awakens was much better, imo. Last Jedi is decent, but it falls short on a lot of things, and to me it just doesn't feel like a complete Star Wars film. It has some great effects and objectively it's a beautiful film, but it lacks the substance that made Force Awakens so enjoyable. Rian Johnson may not like hearing it, but he dropped the ball with this film, especially considering the potential it had to be great, especially given the set up from it's predecessor.
You were so right on all your closing points and the same we all felt at the time we and why this movie is not well liked by many fans. Loving the SW reactionsz!
It wasn't just some small failure though. Luke felt responsible for basically bringing about a new Vader, something he was terrified of. It's not just a lost battle, or argument, or something, he lost his hope there when Kylo Ren arose. He lost hope for a new brighter future, for new Jedi, for a new beginning. Instead, he got a new "empire" and a new Vader. Also, in many stories he is usually driven by emotions, so it's no surprise. I completely understand why Luke reacted that way.
I love this film. It's my favourite Star Wars film! The subverted expectations, the themes and lessons throughout, the cinematography, all of these were amazing! I especially liked how they had an idea that, even if you aren't coming from some super-bloodline, you can still be something more, like Rey. Which of course will be ruined in the next film 🙄
Also, her naive belief that she'll just come there, say a few encouraging words, and Kylo will just suddenly become "good" was so on-brand for a new hero. The fact that it didn't happen was also very right. That's just how it works… and again was kinda ruined in the next film, but that's another story.
Agree with you on the humour though, so many things were forced and very corny. It did not need to be there, but I guess Disney is the boss.
The film that causes the division in the fandom. Episode VIII was a slap in the face to SW fans. The franchise hasn't recovered since.
So you felt that the puns were somewhat “forced”?

The only positive thing I can say about this is that it LOOKED great. Rian Johnson did a fantastic job with the cinematography. However, he has NO idea how to tell a story, and no idea who the characters are. I won't belabour it, there's a ton of videos and commentary about this film's failings… and BOY there's a lot.
The whole sidequest that Fin and Rose went on was a complete waste of time. There was zero payoff. And that love story between them was annoying.
To be honest, despite seeing the sequel trilogy, the series stopped for me after episode 6. The original story was specifically wrapped around Anakin/Darth Vader (and the Emperor). I'm also a super huge fan of Darth Vader. Despite some interesting elements, the sequel was riddled with bad writing and doing the original characters a disservice.
This is just bad. It ignores so many rules in the Star Wars universe. It even rips apart many things set up in the Force Awakens, which is a New Hope ripoff…

38:03 "BYEEEEE" 😂
If they had actually treated the fans with respect and just followed the plot threads Rian Johnson started here then the final movie would have been worthy. Rey should have been a nameless person who was force sensitive, but if they wanted a big name, Ben (Kylo) should have been the Skywalker that "rose". Because he actually was one. Writing 101. Could have made it compelling, instead of bringing back a villain that was already dead through some massive plat contrivance and just shitting all over the legacy characters.
My biggest problems with this movie:
-Admiral Holdo
-Casino Planet
-Phasma wasted
-FINN SHOULD HAVE DIED!!!!!!
yh the funny parts were like the bloopers kept in
"I just thought that Luke would have responded better. That just didn't seem right. That just didn't seem like the Luke Skywalker that I have been learning about for all of these movies…since I started watching 'A New Hope'"
Imagine how those of us who first fell in love with Star Wars in 1977 felt when Rian Johnson did this to the character that we'd waited DECADES to see again on film. Keep in mind that there are SCORES of novels that came out in the meantime portraying Luke as THE ULTIMATE BADASS, and Disney relegated all of that to "legend", only to give us this trash to replace it with.
THAT'S why a LOT of people got pissed off. This film doesn't "feel" like Star Wars, and you picked up on that.
You hit it on the nail when you said this wasn’t a good portrayal of Luke, for a lot of us who grew up with him, this seemed so out of character. Aside from Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz, there isn’t any character that’s that optimistic. A lot of fans were disappointed with this movie, the biggest complaint was its portrayal of Luke. Thank God we got the Luke we deserved in Season 2 of The Mandolorian, check out people’s reactions to that.
Rian Johnson is still defending this movie and wants to do a new sequel trilogy, but a lot of fans want him to not go anywhere near the franchise.
Who knows what Disney corp was thinking really should have just trashed the script and started over. Fandom would've been ok waiting.
The whole Disney sequels are non sense. SW ended in episode 6.
✨this is not a Star Wars movie and I despise it so do most people who have loved this franchise for decades and yes sometimes it's good to be a gatekeeper✨
