Star Citizen is an Open Development Alpha Project by Cloud Imperium. It is 2 Games really though, the Persistent Universe that aims to build a First Person MMO Space Sim that encompasses gameplay in ship & on ground, economy and pretty much anything else you can think of. It’s built in the StarEngine (a modified Lumberyard Engine). You’ll see massive Space Ships that you can fly with friends, land on planets, explore or whatever your way to whatever goal you choose. It’s available to try in it’s current Alpha State now, you can give feedback & influence the direction of the game BUT it is VERY ALPHA.
Squadron 42 is the Single Player Campaign of Star Citizen & the Spiritual Successor of Wing Commander. The Idea is the game is immersive, cinematic, beautiful & seamless… NO LOADING SCREENS once in game.
Both Games are currently in the Alpha of their development.
I am suspecting to see something more mainstream for Star Citizen’s PU by the end of 2022/23 with permanent progression, though it will be a while after that before the game is considered “feature complete” which would be closer to 2025 in my opinion.
The are no dates for Squadron 42’s Release Yet.

I am an Independent Content Creator & Star Citizen Fan. I am not paid by Cloud Imperium HOWEVER I am an Evocati Member and as such I am under an NDA for Closed Early Patch Tests of Star Citizen’, known as the Evocati Test Flight (ETF).   2. Engineering is really shaping up and looks awesome (not sold on the repair 'beam' though!)….also shows up how difficult it could be running a big ship by yourself, may need to make a few changes to my fleet🥲

  3. While this is absolutely exciting and amazing, they need to be very careful with what they mean by a ship won't be able to power everything, or everything to full power at the same time. Having been on military vessels of varying sizes, I can assure you that we can absolutely power everything at the same time with internal combustion engine power generators, so why would power generation in the future take a huge step backwards?

  4. fully crewed player ships have never felt closer to feeling actually real, instead of everyone just focusing on shooting or flying

  5. you have to tune your ship to go do an investigation mission. 23 minutes later, whoops, mission has been taken by someone else. Guess we need to tune it for a delivery mission, 12 minutes later, whoops, took too long and now the mission has expired. Ok, maybe bounty hunting? 33 minutes later, oh damn after going to the other side of the system i now have to fly back and travel through a jump gate. Let me tune it for that.

    The over simulating kills the fun factor. Again, there aren't too many people out there who want to work a whole second job when they come home from work…

  6. That engineering UI minimap should exist for anyone in the ship owner's party as a way to navigate the ship and see what's going on and leave unknowns for boarders who don't know what the crew is doing to slow them down.

  7. I think it's alright, but over reliance on the Multi-Tool kinda starts getting in the way of all that First Person animation work on making the world feel tactile and like you're in there.
