  1. Here we go again. I’ve commented ad nauseam in other special forces posts about this modern day fetish for totemizing our fine special units. But my thesis is that some of these posts seem to posit that only these units in SOCOM are the brave. I’ll certainly give them that. As a Marine, I believe that any service member who puts themselves in harms way is equally brave. Especially if your a grunt who knows he’s going to have contact with an enemy in force. That’s guts too people. Let’s not forget this. I’d say going hand to hand or door to door is just as “bad ass” as some critical skills operator doing some direct action raid. What the SOCOM dudes have on the grunts is better gear, more specialized training and a lot more love on YouTube. Semper Fi

  2. With British/Canadian "help" our OSS morphed, from the ground, up into the post war CIA. The problem ,is that the Brits MI 6 had been successfully penetrated by the Soviet NKVD, way back in the 1930's.Then, the question becomes- what do we really have over in Langley?

  3. When most people think of Special Forces, they probably imagine elite military units like the Navy SEALs or the Army Rangers. However, there are a number of lesser-known Special Forces units that operate around the world, performing highly specialized and often top-secret missions that few people are even aware of. Here are a few examples of Special Forces units that not many people know about:

Task Force 88: This secretive unit is responsible for tracking and eliminating high-value targets in the Middle East and North Africa. Composed of elite soldiers from various branches of the military, Task Force 88 operates in small, highly mobile teams and is known for its lightning-fast strikes against terrorist leaders and other key figures.

Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC): Although JSOC is technically part of the larger Special Operations Command, it is a highly secretive and independent unit that operates outside of the traditional chain of command. JSOC is responsible for some of the most sensitive and high-risk operations in the world, including the capture of Osama bin Laden and the killing of ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.

Delta Force: While Delta Force is one of the more well-known Special Forces units, few people outside of military circles know much about its operations. This elite unit is composed of highly trained soldiers from various branches of the military, and is responsible for conducting complex, high-risk missions around the world. Delta Force played a key role in the 1991 Gulf War and has since been involved in a number of other high-profile missions.

Sayeret Matkal: This elite Israeli Special Forces unit is one of the most highly regarded in the world, and is known for its expertise in intelligence gathering, hostage rescue, and other specialized operations. Sayeret Matkal has been involved in a number of successful missions over the years, including the rescue of hostages on a hijacked airplane in 1976.
