Soul Radio Vol 112 Dec '88 Jan '89 + Bonus Tracks

Soul, Funk, Jazz, New Jack Swing, House, Acid House, Deep House, Rap, Hip-Hop, and Reggae Records played on the radio between December 1988 and January 1989. These were recorded from several sources, including Andy Peebles, Robbie Vincent, Steve Allen (Streetbeat), Jeff Young shows, or the Charts. I have deleted 6 Rock/Pop tracks that were on the tape, and added 10 tracks that had been missed by me for some reason or other during 1988. These have been added to the start.

There is also an advert for Robbie Vincent narrated “The James Brown Story” which I found on a BBC site, I was hoping to find when the JB interview was aired but never did, and did think it was sometime in 1988 EDIT: I have now found out it was actually aired in 1986. So shouldn’t really be on this tape. Still, it goes nicely with the Renaissance James Brown enjoyed in 1988.

The video starts very Jazzy with great tracks from Will Downing, Lee Ritenour and Al Jarreau. It goes very Funky after that with a couple of James Brown tracks, The Urban All Stars, and Stetsasonic as they answer one of the James Brown records. There is also some great New Jack Swing, from Johnny Kemp & Keith Sweat. Norman Connors & Soull II Soul conclude the added tracks. We then have more great tracks, including some of the best Deep House tracks ever made. The Turntable Orchestra’s “You’re Gonna Miss Me”, Raze “Break 4 Love”, “That’s The Way Love Is (Deep House Mix)” by Ten City and Joe Smooth’s “Promised Land” to mention a few. There is also room for two more great Jazz Funk Tracks, Cu-Bop Alert by Mongo Santamaria and
Morrissey Mullen “Singing In The Acid Rain”. Lots of other great tracks as well. Enjoy! 🎧🎷🎺🎸🎻🎹📻🎧

There was a lot of negativity coming from the music industry saying taping would kill the music industry. This was proven to be false, it didn’t. In my experience, taping only led me to buy more and more records and tapes, and I’m still buying them now on CD’s & downloads.
