  1. Xbox has no power in my opinion… with as long as they been out the only game that intrigues me is forza… im not buying an xbox for 1 game so no loss for me… even if playstation is gonna be more niche they still have the better games

  2. I'd say yes. They do need to respond. Microsoft started with the top dog. The most expensive publisher in the industry. If this goes through, don't expect them to be done. They go after Capcom next. Or Take-Two. Or EA.

If this goes through and Microsoft ends up owning Activision-Blizzard, its an arms race. Sony should start by going scorched earth on all of the cheaper Japanese publishers. They don't have as much money as Microsoft but, yes, they could afford even this. Snatch up SEGA/Atlus, Kadokawa (FromSoftware/Spike Chunsoft), Capcom, Square, and Konami.

That or pick up Take-Two Interactive (2K and Rockstar). All of those Japanese publishers would probably cost them around 30 billion and that's probably about what Take-Two would cost them. So they'd have to figure out whether Grand Theft Auto is more valuable or the list of IP they would get from all of those publishers.

A wild card that probably wouldn't even be that expensive would be WB Games studios. They were trying to sell off their game division a few years ago. Studios like Rocksteady, Monolith, Avalanche, and NetherRealms are very talented. About on par with Sucker Punch and Insomniac imo.

  3. I would like for SONY to buy Ubisoft, but not to make their games exclusive, but to make them better. And maybe they can leverage the games like Ghost Recon to potentially compete with COD in the future…

  4. Thanks for finding a way to make my submission work despite its length. There’s a lot to say in deep dives and it’s important to cut out the chatter that doesn’t say something. But I like to contribute ideas that supplement your creative direction.

  5. Would be interesting if SIE invested like 10-15% into studios that they don't buy, but buy stakes into to have a wider reach to help out those studios and themselves. PlatinumGames could be one.

  6. I agree with Kyle on Square Enix being an independent publisher under Sony Group, and should continue to make games on Nintendo since there is Aniplex that publishes games on Nintendo under Sony Music.

  7. all i got ps5 for was psvr2 and it don't disappoint, flat screen games do not interest me no more, i mean try gt7 or resident evil village in flat and then on psvr2 and tell me what blows you away

  8. For those saying Sony does not have enough to buy T2. Discovery was worth $20B when they bought Warner for $40B
T2 had only 3b in cash when they bought Zynga for $12b+ using loans and stock.
Disney bought fox for $70B with over $50B in loans and stock.

Sony can buy any publisher they want.

  9. I don't know if I would full out buy Square Enix. It seems that Square Enix is already in PlayStation's back pocket. I would like to see Konami because of the TurboGrafx-16 backlog of games along with Metal Gear and Castlevania. Plus Contra, Frogger, Gradius and Suikoden. I would also like to see Capcom.

  10. There are many options to be honest.

First of all, i agree that Square Enix would be a great match for Sony. I also think Capcom and Konami would be great in the end. But we'll see how it turns out.

Also, we shouldn't forget that Sony has a lot of great "sleepers" when it comes to their own ip. They also have games like Bloodborne who are great but i honestly wish that they would do something with it. Whether it's remaster for PS5/pc so that we can play this beautiful game @60 fps/4K. Or a sequel. They could also revive KillZone and some other ip's they have. Heck why not reboot a good Sly Cooper game, inFamous, etc… I know they have invested a lot in Fromsoftware as well. And while i hope they would acquire Fromsoftware, i know this is not possible because Fromsoftware is owned by another publisher (or something among the lines.) I know it is part of another big corporate.

In any case, Sony can do great things when they are cornered. I don't really care about the AKB deal. But we do have to acknowledge that it is big. Big for Microsoft that is. And i'm sure they would love to have a big Netflix like gaming service. Look at the subscribers count and well, you know enough. Microsoft is just caring about GamePass. I also know it's a great value but in the end, it will be bad for gaming. Having your games only digital (which yes, i know, it is the future… 🙄) I personally really don't like it. I feel that as a gamer, we're giving away so much control. I don't know if anyone cares or not. I guess at this point in time, not many gamers do care, because this digital trend is only growing bigger and bigger. So i'm at a point where i write my opinion sometimes, but a lot of the times, i just skip ahead because i know it doesn't change a thing.

  11. Xbox is gay if they continue to buy studios. They would had more respect from gamers if they made more studios themselves and started making good games. I get that it's not easy but if sony can do it with way less money so can Microsoft. They just got to get better management

  12. Sony is def doing a move after the ABK deal is done. They lost 20bn in a month stockwise due to the announcement of the deal. They don't want that to happen again. So, at the very least, you can expect Square Enix. I don't think they have the money to go for EA or Take2, but Microsoft can't have them either because of their size (they were mentioned as the big 4 publishers in the deal's documents).

  13. I'm don't really care any more because I'm addicted to my VR2 and I've filled up my 1TB SSD with free games of ps+ that I haven't even started yet because GT7 VR online is all I do at the moment 😂I did play that little nightmares game with my granddaughter last week and what a awesome game.

  14. Hey Nixne, if the PS5P or PSP2 rumors are true, it may be evidence that PlayStation is lining up to make a Japanese publisher acquisition. They may finally be looking to start competing more effectively in the Japanese market. They are going to need games to support the hardware and gain some market share from Nintendo.

  15. I really don’t like Microsoft modus operandi. They take all their money from the windows division, which is basically a global monopoly. So, with this money, they start buying companies from areas that they have absolutely no experience with, like LinkedIn. As MS have always been the last place in gaming, they have decided to simply wipe out the entire market, buying every single company they can. They are not capable of creating their own franchises, their own talents, their own games, so they simply buy everyone and everything, so there’s no competition anymore.

  16. Don’t really think Sony needs to buy a Publisher, but Sony should align itself with a corporate entity with deeper pockets than MS…like Apple.

The primary reason is if MS makes a bid for Take2 Sony won’t be able to stop it without a partner with deep pockets. Same thing if it’s EA and or Ubisoft.

Any time Sony delayed announcing/solidifying the pricing of PS5 to wait for an Xbox price announcement certainly the CMA decision is going dictate how big the PlayStation 2023 showcase will be.

As far as acquiring Square/Capcom, neither one them has ever made bank on Xbox or Windows and MS acquiring them likely wouldn’t change anything there.

Also, US companies can’t really acquire Japanese companies and if there was some kind of exception made I suspect the employees of said Japanese company would mass resign. It just wouldn’t work.

I think Platinum might be an exception, but there might be some employee issues there too if MS were to outright acquire them.

  17. If Sony wants to be relevant in the future they have to act right now to secure important IPs for PS like Final Fantasy, Street Fighter etc.

Dont get me wrong Sony is doing great right now but they have to think on whats next.

  18. They should acquire Take2 as well as a lot of great Japanese Studios/Publishers: Square Enix, Capcom, Sega, Konami, Koei Tecmo/Team Ninja & FromSoftware & let them all work as independent as they want, with new exclusive IP's on the way. Like they're doing with Bungie.
I agree with the other guy…I'd sure love to see GTA 6, Resident Evil 9 & REmakes, Castlevania, Silent Hill, MGS, Yakuza/Like a Dragon/Judgment all Exclusively on Playstation at launch. Very nice!
