The real test for all these solid TV's would be motion blur, judder, upscaling at least imo if you're streaming and gaming. Sony processors seem to be best but still have a way to go
Oled mini is disappointing coming from oled
Bravia 9 looks nerfed… at this point, I have to imagine this is done on purpose to make the Chinese brands look better. He didn't expect the Bravia 7 (out of the box) to perform as well as it did… but if he had kept the original factory calibration on the 9, I believe it would have done a lot better.
Cool channel, what do you think about the LG G3 in 83 inch vs. LG C4 83 inch vs. LG G4 77 inch? How would you decide if the price was roughly the same for all models? Greetings from Germany 🙂
My Bravia 9 does not look the same as it did before they messed it up with the firmware update 112.626.130.1NAA and the new firmware update 112.626.140,1NAA used to fix it there's still some bugs left that I beleive. The out of the box when I first bought it is a lot better than after they fixed the TV with the last firmware update, something's still not right with local dimming local dimming and Shadow detail you're correct it's just not right Sony needs another update and you really have to look at their issues because it is not 100%. For all you people out there who have a Bravia 9 or going to get a Bravia 9, do not do an update unless you've got the one that screwed it up. This is my last Sony TV I will buy, and I never bought anything Sony and a couple of Samsung. Sony really messed up their flagship, and it's becoming a habit with them. I believe the Bravia 9 who got screwed up with that update will never be the same I think they're not aware of how degraded the picture has gotten especially in Shadow detail stay away from Sony
@stopthefomo Coming from a 14 year old Samsung 52”. Living room setting, moderate light, 10ft distance, streaming, 4k BR and PS5 gaming. Having a real hard time deciding on a new tv, Bravia 7 or TCL QM7/8 at 75”? Sony worth the extra cost? Thanks!
The QM8 is best imo because of cost to performance.
Myplace QN90D cheaper than Bravia 7 should i get the samsung instead?
To my eyes the QM8 looks best. 🤷
I stand by my assertion that there is some inherent flaw with the 69 B9.
There is no way the B7 should be solidly defeating the B9 in every single scene.
Jennifer Gala, Thank you for all you do. Amazing videos that help So much.
I would buy the Bravia 7. The 9 is not enough better to cost So much more. I Think the QM8 isn't that good of a tv. It's over exposed and over saturated colors. Not a fan. B7 is the way.
Something just does not seem right between the B7 and the B9 in every situation. The B7 looked brighter and better specular highlights that's just not possible.
i saw tcl 115 inch today my god that looked amazing it was soo big please guys review it after seeing it i hated my 77 inch s90c Hahaha
Would have been interested in seeing how the U8N would have done in this shoot out.
Great stream and comparison Fomo – keep it up bro 💪!
Guess I was wrong the Bravia 9 got bodied in this comparison. (Not worth the extra money)🤷📺⚰️
EDIT: My apologies to FOMO, in context he is clearly talking about the B7 v B9 and not the QM8, nonetheless this is a good example demonstrating the effectiveness of higher zone count.
21:29 Ahh but the B9 does not have better bloom control, the edge of bright shapes has more contrast on the QM8, e.g. inbetween the gekko's toes.
I've been checking my mini-LED gaming monitor and yes it's hard to see blooming with the lights on but as soon as you turn the lights off then zone count matters.
39:20 The screen coating on the B7 makes me sick.
Matte screen coating is for the dogs.
47:57 Rtings reviews show the Bravia 7 tends to give a brighter image in real content than the Bravia 9.
But with only a few hundred dimming zones that means the starfield pattern is just the display running without any local dimming, where the B9 is still "trying" to increase contrast above panel native.
This amount of black crush from the TCL is pretty disappointing. I still say once you have more than 2,000 dimming zones a TV should always prioritize specular highlights over bloom control.
The b7 is noticebaly worse in some scenes, the reflection handling in particular would be huge in the real world when you have it in your living room
The qm8 and the b9 are pretty similar, they trade blows depending on the scene. 54:35 really shows this, the qm8 has almost no blooming in that scene that both sony's really struggle with.
Without a reference monitor in the room, they are all close enough to accurate as to not notice the issues with color.
Using this video as reference the QM8 needs a little less blue and a bit more green. You could "fix" it by eye in a couple seconds in the color menu.
All of them are impressive, but the reelections on the bravia 7 are a dealbreaker for me. That's full on "cheap" tv performance. I have a bottom on the line TCL at my mom's house that looks like the bravia 7 in terms of reflection. No way I'd deal with that on a premium brand and price like Sony charges.
LG qned and Oled has the fastest motion when you enable the Motion PRO but you loose 25,30% Brightness , and it's faster that SONY and Sony doesn't loose brightness 👍
MOTION there needs to be way more videos in DEPTH on all BRANDS and High End MODELS Fast Scenes , YouTube, Cable, Streaming , USB , Hdmi
Yet again, all throughout the comparison the QM8 shows much better blooming control than the Bravia 9. Very clear watching this on my 42'' LG C3. Why don't you mention this?? They are not trading blows, the QM8 is clearly better at handling blooming!! This is only excluding the starfield test.
This gamma setting for darker scenes should be automatically adjusted by the room light sensor. Why is there even a light sensor, it should work correctly as it should, but it doesn't do this with any TV. Now the user himself will always have to adjust the settings, if it is displayed in a certain brightness in the room, all this should be done by the TV itself.
FOMO get back with Sony and tell him about the shadow detail and the results you saw during your review this time they’ll listen to you
.
This is a great video FOMO! I would love to see a short version of it swapping out the QM8 with the Bravia 8. Basically a Sony battle for before Black Friday. Awesome work
Great Review!!! Thanks
Samsung QN90D vs Bravia 7 which to go for ?
It would be nice to compare B7, B9 with last year's favorite 95L. I bought 75X95L and I don't regret it at all. I briefly compared 95L with B9, in the dark you could notice the difference, but it was very small.
Do you think Samsung QN90D is better than Bravia 7 ?
FOMO I don't understand why you allow calibrated vs uncalibrated comparison. I know you make a disclaimer but even so, your audience has proven time after time they aren't knowledgeable enough to contextualize and leave with the correct takeaways.
Best value at 77/75 coming from 60" plasma and 95% Dish TV viewing.
Thank you, FOMO for taking the time to do this comparison. For those of us who watch content in a dimly lit room, I’m curious to see a comparison between the Bravia 9 and Bravia 8 (for color accuracy and good Dolby Vision/HDR implementation). I’m done waiting for the A95L to drop to a reasonable price, so I’ll settle for a midrange TV until Sony upgrades QD-OLEDs with a better SoC and give us more value for the money.
It looks like the b7 best one .
FOMO there are other little the firmware updaye fix Sony put out there are other issues such as sometimes when you go on low black level it really jumps to dark and then if you play around with it it goes back to where it should be and also the live color is not acting right the Bravia 9 is not the TV that was initially put out and if somebody doesn't watch it I will start a class action against them to reimburse every one of the people who B9 THAT got affected by the update and THE fix did not work all the way so easy to do and I don't even want another B9 just give me my money back
