  1. The Toy Dolls are a great poppy punk band from Northeast England, been around since late 70s, and still going. Though they have had many personnel changes their leader Michael "Olga" Algar is still out front and a phenomenal guitarist.

  2. I confess to never hearing The Skids. I'm a fan of Big Country, though, which was the next band featuring the late Stuart Adamson. I picked up a nice anniversary set of BC's "Why The Long Face?" from CherryRed records last year. I need to revisit my Cowboy BeBop DVDs (featuring Ein, the super-intelligent experimental dog who acts pretty much like an ordinary dog).

  3. Bought Dream Widow because I almost always like what Dave Grohl does musically.
As far as the movie goes – worst movie I have ever seen. Forced myself to watch the entire thing because I knew I would never watch it again.
Yes, it's worse than Kiss Meets the Phantom.

  4. The soundtrack to “Ghost In The Shell: Standalone Complex” anime series was the first set of albums by Yoko Kanno I listened to and I was stunned.
I’m sure your daughter knows these series too, Frank and I think you’d enjoy these albums.

  5. How did you not know the Skids Frank they are legendary! Your Late to the party on that Cowboy Bebop! It dropped November 2020 and I preordered it it’s spectacular! The soundtrack is performed by the Japanese band “Seatbelts” which are 22 Member Jazz Band!

  6. Richard Branson the vocalist from The Skids used to be a TV Presenter and if memory serves also wrote articles in the music press too. The Skids also played locally to me around two to three times in recent years. Not my bag, but I do know the track Into The Valley.

  7. Thought I recognized Stuart Adamson from the Skids and one of my absolute favorite 80s bands Big Country. I assume the Skids re-united in one of their later formats, as Stuart unfortunately passed away in 2001.

Lovely video, I’m listening to the new Röyksopp box set I got today. They, a Norwegian electronic band, released 3 full albums this year, which I got today as the box set.

  8. Forgot to answer your end of video question. Picked up a lot of music lately but a new discovery of an old band for me was watching one of Norman Maslovs videos peomted me to listen to and buy the 1980 debute album Crazy Rythms by the Feelies. Got a lovely copy sent to me in Denmark from Newbury Comics. Btw, ordering vinyl from the US to Denmark, almost always have to pay customas and import charges. If I don’t buy overly expensive ones, I hardly have to pay extra to Norway. Just a scandivegian tip if there are any of us here.

    Have a great weekend 😊

  9. Happy Friday Frank! Latest I picked up was Slade's Merry Xmas Everybody 12" single on Snow White vinyl and the first Sabbath on Purple/Black vinyl. But was in Edinburgh a few weeks ago (i live in Mississauga Canada now) and want to give a shout out to Vinyl Villlains on Elm Row for a good haul. 4 WASP and an Alice Cooper 7" single w Poster, Ugly Kid Joe 12" Neighbour, Ozzy/Randy Tribute original press w bonus poster, Alice House of Fire 12" single (with live classics) and the Iron Maiden Two Minutes to Midnight picture disk-amazing art. Also the most recent Metallica Vinyl club arrived while I was traveling. Been a good few weeks…can't wait till Christmas/Birthday! Ps the UK rock magazines are still amazing!
