Some People Will HATE This Amazing Game – Elden Ring Review

I am finally comfortable doing my Elden Ring Review. With over 120 hours in the game, and after testing extensive amounts of the content… I can comfortably say that this is one of the best open world games ever created.

Elden Ring is a game with clear identity, and that identity will not be appealing to everyone. However, that sense of self is what makes it an unapologetic masterpiece, worthy of being played.

  1. So far I have 2 problems with the game. Quest bugs and glitch and requirements. I can't beat Raddan, the Sallena quest is bugged. She is not at the 1st meeting location, her dying corpes doesn't give me her souls and now the 2 locations she is no longer at and cannot give the lifeless version of her a soul. Have no idea what to do now. Radian is so ridiculous I tried to beat him same as everyone on YouTube, dodge the arrows activate help dodge, dip, duck, dive and dodge and yet I get hit 2 times it's over. Being a spell caster I have hardly any defense. My toon is level 111 and just its all a mess.

  2. I think what impresses me the most about Elden Ring is that it's so much more than just 'big Dark Souls'. The open world is DENSE. Nearly every part of the map has something on it to find. The best part is there's no obnoxious handholding. There's no compass with GPS tracking that takes you straight to your objective, there's no icons to tell you where everything is. You have to actually scan the environment yourself to find stuff.

  3. Thank you for the honest review. I'm really enjoying it.. but it's challenging, and the channeling of hate for that is unique. I personally enjoy it. But I can see how anyone can be turned away by the "Deep end" approach. Still… it's quite an accomplishment by this talented team. Looking forward to getting back to the world or Elden Ring.

  4. I've always loved From games for the mechanics, but I always seem to hit a wall that I can't get over right at the end (only beaten DS2 and Demon's Souls (when it had the infinite souls glitch on PS3)). For someone in my position, would Elden Ring be a worthwhile purchase? So tempted to go for it but don't want to get to the end and get burned out again.

  5. I agree with reviewers here, you don't need more than 1h59min to know everything about the game and form an opinion. Likewise, Steam backs up this fact with it's refund policy of 2 hours playtime limit.

  6. The game feels too long IMO. When you get to the Erdtree the first time and it feels like the game is almost done, only to find out there's at least two huge areas left to conquer before you can try it again? And those two regions are the least interesting in the game? Yeah… it drags at the end.

  7. Mike Rose is a guy who likes group think. But I don't disagree with the fact that you don't have to finish a game to review it. It makes it more comprehensive and complete, but if you don't like a game, then you don't like a game. But it's his LITERAL JOB to review a game, so he should finish it and stop being a little bitch. Hell, someone hire me in his place and I'll HAPPILY play whatever game you put in front of me and give a thorough, multi-page, highly comprehensive review even if I hate it or just suck at it.

  9. Fromsoftware> pretty much half the western triple a companies

Sekiro, dark souls, Bloodborne, elden ring. It's crazy to think how many gems one company has created. And on the other hand western companies big releases are mostly games like cod vanguard, battlefield 20000000sth etc. If this continues fromsoftware will put them out of business. I personally have stopped buying anything from companies like ea.

  10. I bought Seikiro but never really got into it, and only have about 6 or 7 hours in this game. I'm loving what I've come across so far. That damn golden boss on the horse and that dragon faced angel have combined to kill me around 20 or 30 times but it's all good, there's a massive open world for me to explore. This is my first real experience with this type of game and combat but damn I'm enjoying myself.

  11. I'm about a week of casual playing into it, and Elden Ring is looking like an absolute masterpiece! The size of the map, combat variety, and enemy variety is insane! The areas are so beautifully detailed, you have to play it to grasp it. You get a much better feel for the game after you take down the first 3-4 big bosses.

  12. I am definitely one of the people who hate this game lol the controls are jank as fuck and I can't get over how it feels like a game straight out of 2007 but with okay graphics

  13. I disagree with the assertion that you need to complete a game to be able to review it. Games are not like movies in the way that you need to make it to the end of the narrative to reach an opinion of the final product. Gameplay is king, and if you cant review a games gameplay within a few hours and decide if it works or not, you shouldnt be a reviewer. People will always have a subjective view on a narrative, but gameplay is different. Either youll love the gameplay and choose to play it, or not. Thats what the meat and potatoes of reviews should be about, gameplay. Remember, game reviews are about whether or not the game is worth buying, not necessarily about the end product of the narrative as that will usually cause less of a problem for most dpending on the game.

  14. I've been playing for a few hours and I am enjoying Elden Ring
That said there are a few things that could be fixed
    1. Mounted combat feels like you're flailing around on a jet ski while drunk
    2. The lack of a journal makes it hard to track quests
    3. Some enemies feel a bit copy and pasted
Now some things that I love about the game
    1. The game really incentivizes having a balanced playstyle I use a combination of melee combat and magic
    2. Stealth gameplay is very intuitive and player friendly
    3. Leveling is challenging but not an ordeal with several ways to gather runes
    4. The overworld is beautiful and every region I've seen feels unique and they run the gambit between lush vibrant landscapes and desolate hellscapes

  15. Cool. I never got into the Dark Souls games because they were already dated by the time I heard about them and I didn't like the no story aspect as well as being very linear.
