If you can't loot, why join the front lines? It's part of the bargain- risk your life for your ruling class, if you win and live, you get to steal from the enemy
It's unfortunate that no one can take any more war trophies due to a number of incidents and results of booby trapped Items that would detonate After returning back to base with said item
I got my hands on an old Russian radio in Afghanistan. I found it in a pile of old Russian shit, in a cave. The thing still works though. I had to lie, and say I bought the thing in order to get it home though.
If I'd have found some gold, I'd have buried that shit and come back later.
I assume we loot a lot. It's against the rules, but the US ignores it's own and international laws all the time. But don't worry, we're totally the good guys.
My great grandfather had a luger holster, i guess he got it from a dead German in the Lapland war, of bought/stole it from a German in the continuation war
My father told me that once his platoon found a stash of deutsche marks and assumed that they were worthless. For a couple of weeks they use them to start fires. (It was very cold). Then, they found out that they were actually real currency. π
Listen bruh, if I was sent on a mission to kill one of the biggest terrorist leaders in the entire planet and succeeded in doing so, Imma get .y fair share of his shit. That gold is going to the US government anyway so Imma get a small catch. "Oh no, guys. You can't do that, this is all for the government". Bruh, nobody on this earth would ever say that π
In WWII it was a lot easier. My uncle brought back Arasaka rifles with the mums on it, his 1911A1, and traded some of his rifles for a PPK and Walther P38. He said they were swapping stuff all up and down the train.
Parents told me of troops coming home in port being told the military police were searching baggage for trophies. Then the plopping noise as these trophies were deposited into the water. With magnet fishing and diving, its surprising these trophies haven't been found. Here Homeguard and visiting forces buried alot of stuff.

I've heard of guys who brought back guns, money and one portrait from Sadams palace
That would be the Luger most popular, not the Walther.

War trophies used to be considered a warriors pay, now they get a medal for their troubles.

An irl helmet based on a fictional helmet that was itself based on an irl helmet.

Eh, not like our government would have used the gold responsibly as they would probably use it to line their pockets so itβs fine
