Fuck you still from your stance on incursion gold at the beginning of P3
I think you were in to something with the loot scarcity. Its less about the raids being difficult and more about the loot being difficult to obtain. Low droprates on highly coveted items
Just too much WoW at the end of the day. You see it in SOD being barebones on new assets and getting sidelined for Cata. You see it in the myriad of bugs in Cata. It’s present in the undercooked Remix that is taking weeks to get to a better state. It’s even in Retail S4 with how many issues they’ve had there.
Blizz wants to have their cakes and eat them too, but they haven’t given the appropriate amount of time and resources to their devs to tend to a bunch of versions of WoW. The ENTIRE product line (outside of era and HC) is hurting as a result.
the discussion around 11 mins about how bad player make the game more fun is exactly my experience with one particular exception. i run pug raids constantly and it's always a blast teaching a group how they need to engage with the mechanics and diagnosing what the issue with a raid is. the bad players that arent fun to be around are the ones that think they're good cause they either high on the meter or they're used to getting carried by a guild but are extremely unwilling to engage with mechanics unless you call them out by name. i'd rather have a goldfarmer that doesnt speak english and has 4 different tabs open in my raid group cause at least you can usually still bridge the communication gap with them, dumb parsers will instead of listening to you try to place blame on anyone else in the raid making it harder to diagnose problems
wrt difficulty of the raid, i think that the second version of ST was perfect for an end game raid but they said they didnt want levelup raids to be too difficult and i think i agree with that design decision especially when it seems like eranikus and the boss before it seem deliberately designed to teach people basic mechanics of the game like taunt swapping and dealing with two mechanics at once
wrt incursions, they're kind of just a really obvious bait unless you're really hurting on gold as you level up. there are so many things you already want to do going from 40-50 that i literally havent been able to find the time to do them on any of my characters (except for the one that went through before all the nerfs on launch) until they're already at 50. it doesnt matter if something is the most efficient XP/h if you still need to run mara 16 times, ZF, get gear from gnomer, ect and it seems like people are actively wasting their time by running incursions when they could be leveling while they get shit they're already going to want to get
if you treat incursions like a max level pseudo daily they feel pretty good imo
Good point about progression raiding, though the world's best guilds could barley put a dent in Morphaz. That s* was possibly never getting cleared.
'Classic players believe they deserve every best in slot' in Classic I killed Kel'Thuzad with Benediction lol. I am more interested in clearing content, but loot doesn't hurt. 'I want to go fast, I don't care if the item drops' hellz yeah
Tank shaman was in such a sad state this phase it really skewed my perception of ST
Good point re PvP wilting, world buff griefers are just draining. Once someone killed me in STV before a blood moon & I dogged them purging them for the whole 30 minutes
Are you on Shadowstrike?
man i have to skip over when fred talks about anything it's genuinely too painful
I did one round of incursions, but they feel bad and wrong, so I leveled with a combination of questing (basically empty world) and dungeons but it still took me around 20 hours longer than my guildies who did incursions.
The funny thing is this, though: just knowing incursions are there just saps any enjoyment I have of the game. Incursions basically ruined SoD for me and made me stop playing and unsubscribing, and I was playing at least 4 hours a day on average.
Classic players just want gear so they can parse, they dont want difficult raids, Blizz has the data and make decisions based on that. If you don;t like it, don;t play the game.
Back at 2005 i was way more "happy" in blue 5man gear then when i'm at full bis after a while in every patch since we started at 2019. The biggest change is how the comunity only care about logs and parses and with that people want the full BiS as its easier to parse.
Warcraftlogs and gdkp more or less ruined classic wow.
I wish that the raid size would be 10man better to organize and my guild did 2-3 runs as we could fill with alts. Its also more "fun" and personal to raid as 10.
Biggest problem with ST was the insane amount of trash before the first boss that was not fun at all with no drops. The the 2nd nerf + paladins got "shamanistic rage" made made ST way to easy as it made us have 100% mana whole bossfights.
What they should have done is allow us to level to 58ish during the extended p3 but lock the level inside raids/bgs at 50 to give us a reson to login and play and lessen the inc stress to get to 60 during the summer.
My guild more or less was forced to take a break when cata released as we went from 25ish active players to about 10, and i dont know if they will return when p4 hit. If not i will most likely quit wow for good as playing together with them is the best part of wow as classic have almost no solo content ouside farming gold wich you have no use for if your not raiding.
Sunken Temple is the only good thing from phase 3… and they made it a week lockout. Fastest leveling phase, no new PvP, and mind numbing incursions (still neutral with EW, despite hitting 50 in the first 10 hrs) 😂 it’s like Blizz purposely made this phase trash to drive people to Cata, might be giving them too much credit there.
