Why film on a Bicycle

Traditional video makers tend to walk, which unless great care is taken, produces a bounce in the video footage. I find filming on a motorbike can be too fast, not allowing you to take in the scenery. The bicycle allows me to interact with people whilst providing smooth footage. If you find it is still too fast, then you can slow the video speed down to half speed, which will still be 30 frames per second. Industry normal is 24/25 frames per second.

Why doesn’t the footage look clear

Sometimes I make an error when shooting the video (but very rarely) The most common cause is that your internet connection on YT has set the resolution to below 4K, so check your settings.

Camera Equipment

Since starting the channel I have used my trusty DJI Osmo Pocket 2 (Creator combo) I am now using the Pocket 3
The Combo comes with a Bluetooth microphone which has given great performance, even when riding at speed. I film at 4K & 60 frames per second, my light and ISO settings are on Auto. The Camera is strapped to my left wrist (so it might appear that I am close to things on the left). I control the Camera head via an application on my phone (Mimo), using my right hand Thumb.

Bike Hire in Pattaya

There are several who offer bicycle hire services. The two I tend to recommend are

https://www.facebook.com/PattayaRentaBike7

Both of these offer regular Bicycles and Hybrid options.

My Bike

My E-Bike was purchased form an online seller in Bangkok, Iker Salas, who has provided me with Televisions for years.

  1. Thanks David. I love this part of town, much more chilled than the city centre but still with everything you need on your doorstep. 11 months and counting until I retire and start looking for a nice place in Pratumnak to enjoy a life of leisure. 😀

  2. Great video David. So much great information. Love this area more and more as time goes by.
FX hotel top of Soi 4 around 1,000/ night with breakfast, very good value, decent small pool. Irish Wolfhound bar opposite I was in a few weeks back with friends having a few drinks and they ordered some Thai food from there as well. Went and got them some green mango and the lady said we had to pay a cover charge for eating that in there. They can ram any custom from me again.
Those new places on Soi 4 seem very popular. Went down the other evening and a really good vibe.
Old Rogues one of my goto places for Thai and western food. And shows all the Sport. Great place.
Catflaps well worth a visit. One of the best looking GCs around.
VN garden restaurant as you say , a hidden gem.
I enquired at the Sirin hotel/condo when I first came. Wanted around 40,000 a month!

  3. Over the last two years…I decided to retire in Pattayya…but did not want to live in chaotic downtown Pattaya…had to decide between Pratumnak and Jomtien…finally decided on Jomtien for a few reasons: Heard many complaints about noisy and vicious Soi Dogs in Pratumnak. 2) Loved the Baht Bus…I ride a motorbike…but it is great to take a 10 or 20 baht bus ride to downtown Pattaya for a few drinks and a convenient way to get back home. 3) the Beach is better at Jomtien….Pratumnaks Cosy beach is a hike down steps and back again!. 4) Too many Russians in Pratumnak. 5) Lots of night life in Jomtien to match Pratumnak and Pattaya! 6) everything is walking distance or a quick cheap baht bus ride in Jomtien. LOVE Jomtien!

  4. Any chance you have a vacancy for rent in your building. I like the area and my Thai girlfriend and I are interested in a 1 year rental. We might look at buying, but that's not the first step. I've followed you from Canada for sometime and lived in the Ritz on soi 5 for awhile.

  5. i stayed in the small gated townhouses you can just about see on your left @19.50 for a few months. Was a nice place to live and had a regular taxi guy to get in to town. Best thing was the Russian gogo girls living across the road who would lie by the pool all day getting an all over tan!! I did a lot of swimming lol

  6. Thanks for the tour Dave. I'm definitely interested in renting a condo or apartment. The area seems quite enough and I like riding a push bike as you call it. And it seems like it might have everything I need to live. I will have to check it out.

  8. Top notch video DS. Great HD images too. Not seen much of the area before. Used to stay at Citrus Parc Hotel pre covid but never ventured down Pratumnak, always went into town instead. Missed out. Got a month hol in a few months' time, will check it out and stay a few nights there.

  9. Interesting to note that you called the orange buildings is there any reason to not say nng? I do quite like pratumnak but, does the higher level of Russians make it less desirable? I have often found them to be a bit rude, not queuing etc.😊
