BIG Magic Kingdom Changes! Big Thunder Mountain CLOSING for 2025, Astro Orbiter, Pirates & More!

Join me for a beautiful day at Magic Kingdom as we explore some big changes coming in 2025! Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, one of the most popular rides at Magic Kingdom, is closing for the entire rest of 2025 for a lengthy refurbishment, and is not scheduled to reopen until 2026, as Disney says, “with a little bit of new magic”! Astro Orbiter also has a long closure coming up, and I share about all the new things that have been announced and all the big changes coming to Magic Kingdom in 2025 and beyond, including the new Pirates of the Caribbean themed lounge, holiday crowds and more! Since Big Thunder Mountain is closing for the rest of this year, of course we’re going to ride, check out some of the special details and story, the theming of Big Thunder Mining Company and Tumbleweed, the ghost town you speed past in your railroad car! We’ll enjoy the ride experience, the best views, and even some hidden things and some of my favorite fun facts, before it closes for the entire rest of this year. Big Thunder Mountain is one of my favorite rides at Disney World, and I’m sure many of yours too, and we’ll talk about more of the changes coming to Magic Kingdom this year, how we think this long closure will impact the rest of the park, see Grayson the piano player do an amazing Muppets medley, and of course, just enjoy a beautiful WDW day together, and check out some of the new 2025 Disney World merchandise that’s been released!

  1. I am going to the Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom the week of January18th. I am going to have to miss the Astro Orbiter AND Big Thunder Mountain. Shame, BTM is my favorite.
EDIT: I have ridden BTM with kidney stones. It did not help! I had to have them surgically removed when I got home.

  2. Grayson is great! My daughter quoted Kermit in her high school graduation speech. This family loves the Muppets. She was recently married, and her husband coincidentally plays the banjo. I think I might rewatch Muppets' Treasure Island since it has been a minute.😊

  3. Thanks for all you share with us and trying your best to stay enthusiastic through all these changes coming. Your are so great. Thank you. Big changes in deed are changing, and I am in mixed feelings about it. I only have been able to go Disney in 1995, 2020, and 2022, so I'm not attached to those rides, but I will say getting rid of the the Liberty Boat is ridiculous. Anyway, the park owners and People in charge will do as they wish and we park attenders, guests just have to flow with the changes or just stop going. I hate that though. Anyway, It will be so different when I get back down there in 2027 or 2028 and I will just continue watching YouTube and enjoy through screen for now. Thanks for all. Be Safe Take Care 😊❤

  4. The couple days for the year we can actually wear spirit jerseys here in Florida Lol!

Astro/PM line is the longest and weirdest que and the awkward silence in the Astro elevator. Lol

  5. So sad they are closing Rivers of America and the Riverboat for a Carsland. Thankfully I have a WDW trip in 9 days and will say goodbye. I have vacationed at least twice a year at WDW for over 30 years but this will probably be my last trip.😢

  6. We do not have a nuanced opinion on the destruction of the Rivers of America. It is easily the worse thing Disney has ever proposed since October 1, 1971. We don't know of anybody – anywhere – on this planet or in the known Universe that is excited about this terrible decision. Does Disney know what they're doing? Again, no nuance here – they don't.

  7. I think Disney is moving beyond nostalgia that references the Old South. The new Cars land will provide a very popular attraction right at the heart of the park and will be pleasing to the youngest visitors. And while many people of a certain age may enjoy memories of Mark Twain’s texts, younger park goers are either unaware of them or may not appreciate their messaging around enslaved persons. Disney is looking towards the 2030s and beyond and are responding to future demographics

  11. Very very beyond dumb idea to get rid of the riverboats. It’s such a welcoming , pretty & relaxing original to fight to keep. Enough w crazy noisy rides that can be placed elsewhere…like in that circus area. It’s going to become like any boardwalk shore amusement park. If that happens, why pay thousands of dollars to go to WDW. I say get a new head honcho with common sense. Well…that’s my two cents. Thanks Jackie for spreading your joy. Happy New Year!

  12. The piano melody of Muppet songs was great. The pianist was wonderful to be able to do that as a request. I’m sure you’ll be documenting the progress on Big Thunder Mountain as the year goes by.

  14. Don't get me wrong cars is a great franchise, however rivers of America give something for all ages to do,it immerses kids and adults alike. It gives a full Disney version experience of a place and era that none of us ever would've experienced and yes, I do have nostalgia for Frontierland. Cars will be a good ride to have but possibly not at Magic Kingdom. Potentially re-structuring tomorrowland would be better, tomorrowland is very dated now and isn't the view of tomorrow. The rides are very old and I don't think it has much to give. truthfully cars rides will be better in studios if they had the space.
Frontierland and fantasyland is timeless, I don't feel tomorrow land is and feels rather tacky, tron should of been in Epcot and tomorrow land fully redeveloped

  15. I’m excited about my favorite classic Disney ride getting some love (BTMRR❤) but am mourning the demise of the Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer Island – it’s my favorite fireworks spot and just so lovely anytime of day 😢

  16. Great video Jackie. Like you, the direction that Disney is moving in is starting to cause me some distress. I'm a 70 year old Brit who has been going to WDW at least once a year since 1991. I'm not anti progress, I realise we must move forward, and Disney must cater for the younger generations. However, I hope they realise that a huge number of their guests are from around my generation, and a great part of our experience is the nostalgia factor. We have a "feel" for old Disney, it's special to us. I just hope that the decision makers understand this, and are not dismissive of the past because they weren't there. I am concerned when I see some of the proposed changes – Liberty Belle going, Cars in Frontierland for example. I keep my fingers crossed and pray for the best. It'll be a sad day should we lose that magic Disney feeling that for an instance transports us back and dusts off our inner child.

  17. I was going to mention about the changes, but I can't help but say something very important that I noticed in the video: Miss Jackie habla español!!!! 😱. Thanks for the video, good mood and info, Miss Jackie. Greetings and that's a great pianist. :8)
