So You Think You Wanna Lay Terra Cotta Flooring | GIRD YOUR LOINS | FRENCH FARMHOUSE

Alas, forward motion is everything. Especially when you’re going downhill on a skateboard.
This week we are moving forward as our sweet girl does her schoolwork in bed with her leg above her heart (45 minutes an hour as recommended by the surgeon). When he asked he if she had any questions before she was wheeled into surgery, she asked this,
“Will I make the metal detectors go off at the airport?”
Girlfriend got three huge screws put in her leg but she’s obviously concerned about her future spy career or thinking about her next trip to Paris. So is her Momma and we’ll unpack the whole story for you here – READ MORE HERE: https://www.parisiennefarmgirl.com/so-you-think-you-wanna-lay-terra-cotta-flooring-gird-your-loins
Now pardon the keyword gibberish: ) So today we’re all about reclaimed terra cotta, how to lay terra cotta floor tiles, how to butter terra cotta floor tiles, french farmhouse, french terra cotta, french farmhouse style, potager, country house style, decor, English country decorating, french country decorating, remodeling with a big family, renovating a 1980s house, remodeling a 1980s house. 3. Angela, don' t you have a dishwasher? To me it is THE best invention of the passed century together with the washing machine. > Wishing Anaïs a quick recovery! ♥♥♥

  4. Oh, to be your age again and have that energy. Good looking tiled floor. I think driftwood is the one to go with too. You have saved a ton of money laying it yourselves, it's an art. I love it! Love your videos with you and your family. Almost forgot to mention that I am going to have a similar meal as you are preparing, you talked me into it, looks so good and I know it is! ❣

  5. Someone asked if you have a dishwasher…. you have 6!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We had 3 girls in my family… and Daddy had a chart on the side of the fridge for dishwashing and drying rotations. He always said "your mom is not your maid" . She did all the cooking, housekeeping, washing and ironing (which was done a lot back in the 60s! But dishes were our chores… besides keeping our own rooms clean and changing our own sheets . Strip the bed and put the sheets in the laundry room, where there was always a fresh set ready. Oh I remember those days.

  6. You make me miss my green jacket.. the zipper finally wore out. I love how agreeable your husband is when you are deciding on the grout.:) I did that not to long ago. My colors are similar. But I’m embarrassed to say I did none of the work on my tile. Nothing would line up if I had.

  7. Is it the MAPEI brand of grout? That is what we used and it worked well. We purchased a couple of the smaller bags and tried it first. The Driftwood looks brownish? I think it will be lovely. So. Much. Work. But so worthy! I am curious to see what technique you will choose to grout it! Great job!

I’ve been sick all week with the respiratory yuck that’s going around and I just put your videos on and let them play and they certainly have lifted my mood!!! So happy to hear Anais is doing well! ❤

  9. HAPPY FRIDAY Angela, family, and fur babies. Quick healing for your daughter. Not laying floors, however, a contractor will be here tomorrow to do some updates in the kitchen and main level bathroom. All is well, you and the family will get it done and you will be able to enjoy and relax in the beauty. STTB

  10. Hello my new friend, love watching the new/old tiles go down. We are putting tile down in my new place, it is not as nice as what you are putting down. But I am thankfull, just keep going dear friend. Picking grout color is not for the faint of heart, driftwood for the win for me also.

  11. I know that colors look very different through the camera and that you’ve probably already picked and purchased the grout, but the wicker color option really picked up the mauve tones of the tiles and would probably be beautiful. You also may not want pinkish grout. Whatever you choose, driftwood would be very nice, I’m sure it will look just as stunning as the rest of your design choices.

  15. I think driftwood is good because the tiles have a little touch of that color in them. I want to go joking your design group but I live with my partner and he had all this here already in the mountain home and I can not change it. The kitchen is all mine I fought on that one lol

  16. I’m so glad to hear Anais is on the mend ❤ and I think Driftwood was a fabulous choice. I used to be nanny in a home that had tile floors SO similar to the ones your laying. Unfortunately the grout on theirs was cream and when I had spare time I would help scrub it…. It was impossible and always looked dirty. They should have used something darker like you are!

  17. For choosing the grout – cut out the tiny color samples (keep the name on it) and fold it so you don’t see any white. Then lay the cut paper in the grout space. It really helps to see what the final product will look like without seeing all the other colors on the swatch or the white boarder. Then you can also lay multiple samples down and walk around it/leave it there for some time to continue to come back to and see what it’s like in different lighting throughout the day. Hope that makes sense.
