Slamming Tracks With The UAFX Max Compressor Pedal!

UA has a line-up now of some pretty awesome pedals built with high-quality components and advanced DSP algorithms to provide a wide range of vintage and modern effects with exceptional sound quality. I’ve been wanting to check them out so when Universal Audio reached out and wanted me to check out the MAX Compressor pedal which models the 1176 compressor and the LA-2A compressor I said hell yes..

  1. Cool cool I've been wanting a UA product and I've been wanting to compress some live vocals and drums in my jams. Reserved on zzounds.

That track at the end was something else

  2. 2 things :
    – I’m not really into house music but everytime i listen to your videos it’s like you take us with you, going for a trip where you just explain us anything you want with so much passion and excitement.
    – I’m still soooo impressed by your speed typing on the Digitakt, making me feel when I was younger and I was waking up my parents because of the keyboard noise I was making.

Anyway, thanks again for your work, reaaaally interesting as usual! Take care

  3. I know you know this Ricky but for anybody wondering the "sidechain" in a compressor is the circuit where the volume detection happens. If you cut the lows of your sidechain you cut only the lows for the detection of the compressor (not the actual volume signal there for reducing how much the compressor reacts to bass frequencies. Its a very normal thing to have built in on compressors and can be very useful if you dont want your compressor to crush everything when the kick or bass hits.

  4. I have one and I bought it with my own money. The truth: it sounds good but very very different from the original hardware units. When pushed hard they completely fall apart, the opposite to the originals which shine on extreme settings. No wonder why this is $350. Very cheap emulations is what they are and whoever tells you different doesn't know what they are talking about, they have hearing problems or they are making money out of it.

  6. If you're gonna say what this cost in hardware (and not some algorithms in a box) then yeah this should be seen as pure marketing.
They're clearly not the same thing. (not that it needs to that expensive either but that's another story, people pay premium for UA as well if you look at what it really is)
