  1. Why are you spending so much time calling out salt factory. Like what the hell? I am a lot more interested in your thoughts on the game rather than someone else's review of the game.

You're right, but seriously, just rise above.

  2. Incredible series. Thank you Pat for all your hard work and dedication in making these videos. The quality speaks for itself and there are few other like it. I look forward to whatever your next projects are, but you’ve earned some rest after these Herculean videos

  3. This video has given me that sense of nostalgia for Skyrim, but an understanding that it isn't all I think it is. Through the fucking day long journey that are these videos I have had an experience a kin to playing the game but also gaining an understanding of what it actually is, what it meant to me when I was a kid playing it, and what it would now mean to me.
These videos are the feeling of what Skyrim is, and I'm walking away from it with that sense of loss for Skyrim that Skyrim never installed into me for completing it, and I also feel that feeling for the ending of the video.
You've truly made something here, and thank you for making it and sharing it. Saves me wasting the time replaying the game to come to most likely similar conclusions (probably less developed ones too) I honestly have no clue how much work would go into a day long video essay but I know you deserve all the recognition you'll get plus more.

this essay has honestly made me feel and think more than Skyrim ever did so thank you again for it. Love ya shit and I cant wait for the 48hr essay for elder scrolls 6.

  4. Saying that Arngeir is jealous of you talking to a younger old man isn't that far fetched, considering the fact that his response to you asking about Dragonrend is
"How do you know about that? Who have you been talking to?"
like an overly protective parent of a teenager who just found out about porn
and considering how simpleminded some of the dialogue options you have are, I'd say that isn't far fetched

  5. blood on the ice is my favorite quest, but it is buggy, like IIRC, the necromancers amulet is useless until you give it to calixo, and kill him when he tries to murder, where he has the actual amulet with its conjuration favoring enchantments. What is also a bit neat, but kind of a missed opportunity, is that if you take the key he has only when he dies, it can open a chest in his place that has the ancient nord carving tools he used for the ritual. too bad you can't pick the chest before hand to accuse him.

  6. While watching though this act, I was struck by the urge to play Skyrim again. One of those "let's just fuck around and see what fun I can get up to" kinda playthroughs with minimal focus on stuff like the factions, Daedra, and the main story. I went through and updated the script extender and the few cosmetic and QoL mods I had installed.

When I was finally able to get into the world after character creation, I just couldn't. Still now I struggle to come up with the words to try and succinctly describe the emptiness I felt when I finally gained control. I knew in the back of my mind I loved this game and the world it dropped me into to explore to my heart's content until I get burned out and not touch it for about a year, but this was different. Across the nine or so years I've been playing Skyrim on and off, I've done everything that I known I would have enjoyed about the game. I've been on the "it's an adventure game with light RPG elements" camp about it for a good chunk of that time. I loved being able to just shut my brain off and explore the world, turning it back on when puzzles were more than the standard spinning pillar puzzles, but now I couldn't even stand the idea of playing the game because I knew there wasn't really anything left for me.

Your conclusion of it all is what made me realize why I felt this way and I'm gonna say it again to help it sink in to my mind: Skyrim was a safety blanket for me. It was a world I could go to and forget about the things that were troubling me, but now that my taste in games has changes, it just doesn't feel the same as it did all those years ago. Maybe later down the line I can get back into it for old time's sake, or to share it with a friend who didn't get a chance to experience it (but even that is closing in on the realm of hopeful thinking). For now, I think I'm gonna uninstall it. Maybe later down the line, the urge will strike me again and I'll enjoy it then, but who knows when that'll be is a mystery.

I'm about to pass out from exhaustion so I'll end this barely coherent ramble like this. I love your Elder Scrolls and other retrospectives a lot, and I don't want people to get the wrong impression with this comment. Words can't express the appreciation all the hard work you put into here and the rest of the videos on your channel, but you helped me realize I should move on instead of trying to recreate the genuine wonder and fun I had in the past. Thank you
