Explore a world shrouded in darkness and despair with Europa and Apino in the 2D Metroidvania, 9 Years of Shadows. Developed by Halberd Studios and published by Freedom Games, this game features resplendent pixel art, boss battles, rhythmic patterns, and hidden secrets. The game has finally launched on PCs via Steam and Epic Games Store after nine years of development, with the Nintendo Switch version releasing in Q3 2023. Europa, a young warrior clad in elemental armor, teams up with Apino, a ghostly teddy bear, to locate the source of the curse and bring back the color to the world.
The game features three armor types – Helios, Gaia, and Poseidon – which players can switch to depending on the enemies’ elemental weaknesses. The game’s music is tuned to a relaxing 432hz and features composers Michiru Yamane and Norihiko Hibino. The game offers English and Spanish language support and is available for $19.99 USD.
