  2. There are very few games I've encountered that I consider "must-play" experiences for everyone, gamers and non-gamers alike. In all my years of playing games I've encountered a grand total of 2. Those 2 are Shadow of the Colossus and Outer Wilds. All this to say, you have amazing taste Pointcrow

  3. I find it very funny that throughout this whole playthrough, Eric just never grasped some very core things about the gameplay such as jump climbing, crouching to not get ragdolled, watching the colossi's eyes to see whether it's agro, colossus line of sight, and the difference between weakpoints and sigils

  4. One of my favorite games and I never knew there was fruit that increased you health (I vaguely remember the lizards but idk if I knew they upped stamina.) Just adds to the beauty of older games not holding your hand i guess xD

  5. It’s really great watching a First Play-through of this masterpiece with a streamer who can read the β€œshow don’t tell” aspects of gameplay and not be frustrated.

  6. 1) The speedruns for this are super rad and you should check them out
    2) I would absolutely watch you play through the Kingdom Hearts series. I would watch the hell out of that.

  7. Dormin = Nimrod… The 'king of the giants', one of the Nephilim (offspring of fallen angels and human women). He was the wicked ruler of the very first kingdom (Babel) who was killed by a righteous man (supposedly Seth, one of Adam's children) and his body was cut into pieces and divided among the land. According to the Book of Enoch, the spirits of departed Nephilim are what we call 'demons'. The tower in the game is like the tower of babel, babel being Nimrod's kingdom, and the consciousness of the slain Nimrod resides there (Dormin). In order to resurrect, the demonic spirit of Dormin needs to be made whole by reuniting the pieces. It should also be noted that the Nephilim are essentially the origin of the Greek and Roman demigods who were worshiped using stone idols (like those in the game). So basically, this game is an interesting retelling of the Nimrod story and it's mythological variations.

  8. The Phalanx fight is by far the saddest to me. While the other colossi were just chilling and then you came fighting them, Phalanx is the only one that never tries to attack you. It is completely passive. It does not fight you. It accepts you are there to kill it. Maybe it knows its fate. Utterly heartbreaking.

  9. Oh man thank you for Eric for letting me relive all the emotions and experiences of this game! I absolutely love your reactions to every bit of it. If I hadn’t played this game 18 years ago I don’t think I would’ve been this heavy into gaming as I am today. This truly was a pivotal moment for gaming and my experience with gaming. I’m so glad you love and appreciate it as much as the lot of us do. I hope for anyone who has watched his play through feels encouraged to experience this game yourself as well.

  10. Also, to be fair to Dormin, he did exactly as he promised. He brought Mono back, would she have been destroyed in his taking over the world, probably, but he did do it. Most evil gods or demons would just lie, but he actually held up his end of the bargain even though he was sealed. He respected Wander and addressed him as warrior when possessing him. 10/10 would slay the colossi again.

  12. As someone who has hunted salamanders for literal hours as an experiment, I was VERY disappointed to find out that salamanders are only worth about 1/5 of the stamina gained from felling a colossus. After playing new game plus a couple times, I was able to get max stamina pretty quickly. Definitely, DEFINITELY do not collect all the lizards! Hours of human life have been wasted… about 5 were mine!

  13. For anyone wondering if he ended up getting spoiled on THE PART, he did not! My heart rate was at a good 100+ BPM for about an hour from the anxiety reading chat's messages but I guess Pointcrow was right to trust chat πŸ™‚

  14. 6:14:00 It is confirmed that Ico, SOTC, and The Last Guardian share a universe however the chronological order of the games are unknown. Unfortunely, there is a lot of misinformation regarding the order of the games but the truth is we really don't know because the game devs never told us (it is unlikely they made a concrete answer themselves mainly cause it ruins the whole mystery aspects these games are known for)! It is ENTIRELY up to interpretation and for all we know all the games could be unrelated outside of sharing a universe.

  15. For the last colossus (Malus), if you look at the silhouette in the lightning on top of its head, it looks like a woman in a dress… Meaning that the entire time of it trying to not get you near it could be interpreted as the maiden (Mono) trying to stop you from going through with it and that you killing it is killing her instead, AKA not going to revive her

  16. i truly wish i could watch a stream w/ chat on screen without compulsively reading the chat. The chat is very bad, I never want to read it but I can't help it! lmao. This was a great playthrough tho.

  17. I think the most frustrating part about this playthrough was that he actually had the right answer for some of the colossi but they just didn't do what they were supposed to πŸ’€. So it ended up dragging things on because he kept doing the right thing but Colossus didn't do anything and then he tried something else that was wrong.

  18. Back in the original game, the entire grip circle grew instead of getting a bar off the side of it. If you did a new game plus with hard mode, you kept your grip and health, so you could keep upgrading it. If you play decently well, by the end of trying out the different permutations of content the game has, the health bar goes off the end of the screen and the grip circle takes up about 1/4 of it. It was ridiculous.

  19. You absolutely should play ICO at some point. At the very least for yourself. It may have come out first but is just as amazing in terms of puzzle and story, though it can easily be beaten sub 3hours with a casual play through. It was my first favorite game ever and one I still adore to this day all these years later. You will not be disappointed if you do play it.
