Sentinel Wingman | Adding a Sentinel Ship to your No Man's Sky Squadron

Hello Travelers,

I hope you are all enjoying the new No Man’s Sky Interceptor update as much as I am.

The new Sentinel ships are aquired by locating crashed ships on the planetary surface, so you may be wondering how you can add such a ship to your Squadron to help you in your space battles. That’s what today’s video will cover.

To start things off you’ll need to claim a Sentinel ship and add it to your fleet of starships. I won’t cover all the ways to find them on the surface here.

Next you’ll need to make sure you have space in your squadron for a new pilot. You can have up to 4 pilots in your squadron. If all slots are filled, you’ll need to dismiss one from the manage squadron menu which can be accessed though your freighter command center.

Once these two housekeeping items are taken care of, you can move forward with getting them added to your squadron.

Fly to a space station or trade center, somewhere that the NPC ships will land and you can talk to the pilots.

Speak to one of the landed pilots and trade them your Sentinel ship in exchange for their ship.

Now hurry back over to the Sentinel ship and speak to the pilot that spawns next to it. They are now in control of the Sentinel ship.
Ask them to join your Squadron, and you’re done. The Sentinel ship is now part of your Squadron!

  1. Some obvious things about this system bother me. No pilot ever refuses. Why can't I change my squadron's existing ships? Does any of this matter much. Other than keeping a shield down for a second squadrons are cosmetic.

  2. Man I can't wait to swap my useless pilots with an equally useless one that's a shinier paperweight as I try to fight on my own with the same level of no help from them!

SCOT FIX YOUR FAKN GAME SQUADRONS ARE GARBAGE!

  3. You can also just set a base and a landing pad right next to a crashed sentinel ship, save and reload and you'll have NPC standing next to the crashed Interceptor. No need to spend any units for ship exchange

  4. The main thing is is that if you want a full sentinel squadron you’d need to do a lot of grinding for several sentinel ships
So this could mean alot of fighting sentinels in space and alot of work to reconstruct the brains of the ships
Which as we all know are both very painful
The easiest method of bypassing all of this is setting your game to creative mode difficulty settings and then changing back when your done with building your squadron

  5. 1 question, does having the ship totally upgraded before exchanging helps improve their perfomance as a squadron? also I wish there was a way for the squadron npcs to follow you around like companions, imagine exploring the planets with the whole gang, anyway, great vid

  6. Neat idea to have more sentinel ships about. However I heard from people squadron is rather useless and does no damage, doesn't divert shots from you, etc. Can they be hurt by you, or destroyed by you/enemy via missed shots?

  7. I wish the squadrons actually did something more useful, right now they only deal a very small amount of damage to the enemy. I dont know about you, but recently they have kept only flying infront of me, blocking any shots I have on the enemy.
