Scruffy Plays Pikmin 4 – Episode 4

Pikmin 4 is here! And I’m recording my playthrough so I can chronicle my thoughts and reactions as they happen!
Day 3 of exploration features a new, more complex cave, yet more discoveries about Pikmin and about the people we’re rescuing, and me testing a theory of mine about how the adaptive music works above ground!

  1. dandori tip: i like to use shortcut settings to set up and down on the dpad to "disband" and "switch"! it makes things a lot smoother. bonus dandori tip: the game automatically sets the survey drone to dpad left and spicy spray to dpad right as soon as you unlock them, and those shortcuts are banger

BONUS bonus dandori tip: looking at the map with + shows the percentage completion of the sublevel you're on in the top right corner 😉

  2. I know that you've probably said stuff about this before, but what educational background do you have? As someone who has only played saxophone for 6 years, I can not spot the proper use of instruments and styles no matter how hard I try. So, perhaps I just need to find a place to start. Could you help a man out?

  3. So much discovered in a single day, and yet there's still more to explore and find! And with a new location unlocked already, I think it's safe to say this is gonna be one extra-packed adventure.

  4. I am so excited for you to get to a miniboss. Gotta be my favorite song in all of Pikmin.

You and olimar12345 got your work cut out for you with this soundtrack

  5. Hi Scruffy, know before all that i love your channel, your analyse about sound design is insane and i very enjoy it, idk where to communicate this to you but i think that zelda triforce heroes on 3ds have a really interesting sound design to analyze into the game, you might also enjoy it , i hope u'll see this message and confirm my words 🙂

  6. Seeing Scruffy drop everything to excitedly analyze the game's music at the end of the day is the culmination of why I love this channel and this playthrough so much. I don't understand a fraction as much of how music works as they do, but they're pointing out things that I had never even noticed about the adaptive sound of Pikmin 4, and it's making me love the design of the game so much more.

  7. Scruffy an important mechanic of pikmin 4 is being able to make shortcuts with the switch buttons so you don’t have to open the backpack, for example you cam set the upper arrow button to change leader into the dog. Also doggo can bring pikmins with him, the upgrade for command only let doggo take pikmin to you

  8. Can't tell if you're reading the comments, the F-Board is a finger skate, a toy that some people get pretty skilled at.
As for how many 'Willsons', as far as I have noticed, you get one pup point for each castaway, so… as many as you will need to max out Oatchi?

  9. Around 38:40 Scruffy mentions that the bridge sounds like polished, fired clay. I noticed this too, but it really bugs me actually. Does it bug anyone else? For me, it's the fact it looks so soft, and that it seems that the pikmin use unfired clay, and it seems to stay the same after the bridge is complete. So when I see a soft looking bridge and hear hard sounds, it just really throws me off.
